My Rheem Air Handler runs all the time,a/c works fine and cools the house but I want the air handler to kick off when not in use. It's model RBHA-14J00NFRA Volts 208/240VAC PH/HZ 1/60

An Air Handler is just a blower. It it can handle more air than the condenser it will never be overworked or freeze up.

Pull the blower assembly...2 screws on the angle bracket holding the blower & disconnect the wiring if needed to the motor.

Check for fan operation by turning the fan control at the thermostat to "on". If the fan blows, it works. If not, check a circuit breaker or fuse.

If the fan blows when forcing it on with the thermostat but not in automatic, check the fan control circuit in the air handler. Danger: high voltage, beware! There should be a system wiring diagram inside the air handler somewhere.

What's wrong with your current AHU? Any Ruud dealer can assist you. Most 4 ton units work with r-22 or 410a. As a side note, most parts in an air handler can be replaced unless the case is rusted thru.

The Rheem model RHQA-0805B is a 6-ton unit.

Check the fan relay switch in the air handler.
Check the fan motor capacitor.
Check the fan blower wheel for binding.

Have you hard wired your fan motor to verify that the motor and or the capacitor are good? If you do a continuity test of the motor leads(with electricity off of course) you can see if the motor has open or grounded windings.
