It sounds like the laser in your blu-ray drive is dead. You will need to purchase a replacement diode ( or drive ) and replace it yourself, this usually costs around $70. Or, you can pay $150 and Sony will replace it for you.
Usually this means the Laser Lens is either bad or going out. This is a common problem with these units especially the older units. Sometimes it can be an easy fix and you can open the system up and use a cotton swap and rubbing alcohol to clean the lens. If this does not work you will need a Laser Lens replacement which you can buy online and get relatively cheap on Ebay. If the unit is still under warranty you can send it in to be replaced.
this error code (80010514) is indeed a hardware
failure, to be more specific, the Blueray drive has failed and the
system will not run like this.
If you can still avail the warranty, then sent it back for replacement under warranty. I hope this may help you,
It sounds like a typical loading error which would point to 2 main issues. 1. your disc is either dirty or scratched. 2. Your laser is out of alignment and needs to be tuned or replaced
Typically it is the disc that is at fault.
Try to troubleshoot by doing the following.
1. Try another disc. Preferably a new disc as then you can be absolutely sure that the disc is not scratched. 2. Try unplugging all the cables and then plug them back in again making sure they are all firm
there is still no joy after this it is still possible that your AV
connection is damaged. This is rare so if you can get hold of another
set of working AV leads that is ideal. Maybe take your unit into the
store with your game and see if they can try another set of AV leads
with your game, or try your game in their machine.
If you cant
get to a store and the first 2 options did not solve the issue you may
need to send your unit in to get the laser aligned or replaced.
you need to call Sony and tell them about the error..its like the RROD of Xbox360..a hardware failure, most likely with the lens mechanism..i had the same error too and had to pay up to get it repaired..hope your console is under warranty..all the best!regards!
Well that error means something is wrong with the laser. I had the same problem with another ps3 and when i replaced the laser it started working again. You can find the laser for sale on a video game repair website for about 60$. Dont try this unless you have some tecnical background though as this can be a bit tricky.
The solution to this error "80010514" is to restore the file system. you have to turn off the ps3. Then press and hold the powr button until it turns off again. Then do the same thing but this time it will make a beep, then it will make a double beep, and as soon as the ps3 makes a double beep release it. Its going to bring up a menu and make sure you press number 3 which is restoring file system. I would recommend going to this webpage which explains everything in better details http://www.ps3blog.co.za/2008/04/10/ps3-error-80010514-explained/
