Windows is corrupted beyond a simple repair.
You need to obtain a USB CDrom drive, insert the OS disc and repair it at the 2nd stage
(the stage where it searches for a previous installation of windows).

If this fails, you will need to do a full reinstall and format the drive

Aspire 5475 freezes on startup

It is most certainly a driver, but if you cant access the safe mode also that could be a hardware issue.. Try to troubleshoot with a windows installation cd. Put it in and boot the pc. It will start the windows instalation, you choose repair computer and not install windows. The command prompt will open, try to troubleshoot from there.. Thanks!

When I turn on my laptop it goes to a windows error recovery page and gives me the options to launch startup repair or start windows normally. When I launch the startup repair my screen goes black and only...

Hello.

Sounds like the Windows Recovery Partition is corrupted or your hard drive may be faulty.

But, first try to boot your system in Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly as it boots) and choose Safe Mode or Last Known Good.

If it still doesn't boot properly, try the diagnostics to determine if a hardware problem - boot your system and press F 12 (or F2) repeatedly.

Hope this helps.

My asus eee pc will not start windows. I've tried pressing F2 (and the bios screen comes up) F7, F8 and F9 ask me if I want to run system recovery, but when I say yes, it acts like it's about to...

Restart your computer..start tapping F8 quickly..if you reaches advance boot menu..there select repair my computer..then select the language..then enter your username and password if you use any..in recovery options you can try startup repair or system restore options..lastly if nothing works then select the factory image restore which will take your computer to factory settings but delete everything

Windows 7 won't bootup, has error recovery. it loads files then nothing. screen is black.

Had that problem a few times myself.
Only way I could fix was to restore back to factory condition.
As you boot, watch bottom of screen closely.
depending on system, Should need to press F2, F10, possibly F12, might even be Del.
Most likely you didn't get restore disk, or have made one.
If you do, insert disk before boot up. System should boot to DvD.
Don't forget once restored to update.
Hope this helps

Wont load the os, it sticks on the windows xp page

1. Press F8 as it's booting and select 'go back to last working configuration'
if that doesn't work, go to step 2.
2. Press F8 as it's booting, and choose 'Launch startup repair' (I'm assuming you have Vista/Windows 7). If your on XP, you need to do a windows repair which is described here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/pdf/XPrepairinstall.pdf
