One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket
hope this helps

I took the motherboard out and but in another case I can't remember how front cable hook up

Hi,

I have looked on the FIC website but they do not have a manual available.

I would recommend contacting FIC directly for this manual.

Use the link above to contact them.

My comp starts up but does nothing more apart fromfans running dont hear any beaps like it used to and nothing boots up can u help could u hazzard a guess many thanks greg

hard drive has fatal error or motherbaord is gone.
Have you recently had any viruses?
If you have the recovery discs this is going to be your only hope.
Turn off comp. turn on and insert dic.
continuously pressF11 to enter bios.
choose to boot form cd/dvd rom
this will start the repair process.
This will reinstall the original operating system, and all drivers that were originally on your system.
CAUTION!!! This will also erase all programs and file you have installed/ downloaded onto your system so be sure to back up anything you dont want to be gone forever.
Good Luck

Toshiba Satallite 1415 wont boot

Sounds like maybe the hard drive is not hooked up or not hooked correctly. Tey unhooking it and re hooking it back up.
If it worked before but not now it has to be somethign is not hooked ack up correctly and a cd will not help.
If Its not the hard drive I would suggest taking it back apart to the point you had it before and reasembling it again but make sure all connections are tight, especially the ones where you slide the flat wire in and then lock it.
It has to be a loos connection some where.
that or the timing of the failure is just coincedental with the disasembly and one has nothing to do with the other.  If thats the case then you have a different problem.
If it is just a fluke and you just have failure I would suggest downloading a program you can install to cd like windows live and then boot to the cd.  once booted to cd you can access the hard drive and fix any problems with directory structure.

Power to the mobo

Without having the specs on the motherboard or knowing how old it is, it's difficult to say if it is beyond repair. Although my experience with computers shutting down that quickly while attempting to boot have been a problem related to processor overheating. Processors get very hot within seconds of powering on. If the processor cooling fan or the thermal paste is not working as intended the system will shut down quickly. You may want to check those two possibilities before purchasing a new motherboard.

Dead Mobo?

Do you have both power connectors from the PSU hooked up?

You need both the large one near the ram, and the smaller square 4-pin one near the printer port
