Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 70 Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Won't work with its software but was working in the past

I'm not sure just when it happened but my Canoscan LIDE 70 will not work when I push the buttons. I get the message "Cannot open this file. Please confirm if destination folder exists". As near as I can determine the folder exists and I even tried reinstalling the software. Still no good. However, the scanner does work if I go to the Control Panel and scanners and go from there using the Windows wizard. This is a pain in the neck.

I ended up completely uninstalling and reinstalling the software and scanner. I had just tried repairing it before (even though I said reinstalling) but that didn't work. Since I had not completely uninstalled it the previous attempt I bit the bullet and did and it worked.

Can the canoscan lide 70 scan documents to work so they can be edited? Is so how

Yes, but you have to use a special program called an "OCR" (Optical Character Recognizer) which will "read" the document from the scan. A scanner only produces a picture of a document, and it requries special software to "read" that image and make it editable.
The LIDE 70 comes with OMNIPAGE SE (special edition) which will work for simple documents. For more complex documents, you may need to buy the full edition of OMNIPAGE or another OCR package like FineReader. It is also built in fto software like OneNote and Evernote.

Problem: Processing calibration data from a scanner

Same problem happened to me last week on my newly purchased canon lide scanner, then I realized there is a tape that holds the mechanism underneath the scanner. You will have to remove the tape, and see if it is set to the unlocked position (mine has a sort of a knob if my memory served me right).

Looks like things have got a bit mixed up with the canon software. Try this:-

1) Un-install the camera.
2) Un-install the scanner.
3) Re-start the PC.
4) Re-install the scanner.
