Hello dtmsinc:

Possible cause is a defective vertical output. Check fuses 1800 and 1801. Also check diodes 6809 and 6810. If there is High Voltage then replace Diode 6003 and Resistor 3669 when replacing the above parts also replace Diode 6012and Diode 6025 your dad should be able to help you.

Have some one with experience on repairing tvs try this and it will determine wich board is bad and the you can go to www.tritronicsinc.com for the part.
Have them unplug the connector from the LSB to the SSM (the plug that feeds the voltage to the convergence IC’s, toward the front of the set) If the H/V comes up replace the SSM. If the H/V don’t come up unplug the CRT’s from the H/V generator. If it comes up see which CRT is bad if not replace the LSB first and the SSB if that doesn’t work.

I don't think it is the IC but I just remembered something else. If the set do have high voltage. Have them check diode 6003 with part number 934055352115and Resistor 3669 with part number 482211711503 when replacing the above parts also replace Diode 6012 and Diode 6025 with part number 934055352115.

The vertical IC's are on the large signal board and they are not the same.

  • Lawrence Smith Aug 21, 2008

They mad two version of this board. To find which version you have look at the top of the board for 31350133203.9. These parts will be found on board revision .9 only. This does not apply to any other versions. They are located at D-4 on the bottom of the board close to plug 1083. Diode 6003 is labeled however resistor 3669 is not, it is located next to pin 10 of plug 1083 and is the first part between pin 10 and the edge of the board.

I looked in the schematics and the resistor is not 3669 but is 3661 and it is on the SSM that is the board with the av connectors on it. And it is 6025 is also on the SSM.

I looked in the schematics and the diodes next connector 1083 on the SSM which is a 10 pin connector. And I looked in the schematics and found 6809 and 6810 on the LSB.

When you push the power button, the screen flashes a picture, and than goes dark. The power button stays solid red.

Two probably solutions:
1.-- SSB need be replace
2.-- Convergence IC's need be replace.
You need to have electronic skills. is hard to do this work.
Be careful, try to find a TV shop for help.
Thank you

Problem with tv 50p8341 might have found the solution

The green line across the TV if its in the middle is usually loss of vertical deflection so that can shut the tubes down for protective purposes. Check the vertical output IC thats what is most likely causing the problem. The flyback is working if theres a green line across the middle of the screen.

Your Red CRT may be on its way out. Try turning down the G2 screen control on the red CRT just a little. That should help for now. A new red tube wil be a reality in the future.

Blue screen with sound but nothing else!

I, too, acquired a Phillips without a manual and was experiencing a similar problem. My model is PTV 916, but if your TV has a "source select" button, say a prayer and press the button. From that point, I don't know what else I did, but I do get TV programs now.

Philips 50P8341 50 in. Rear Projection Television most of the color is red

Usually if you remove the speaker grill in front there is a convergence panel that can be carefully removed. If you look inside you should see a small rectangular block with six controls. They are labelled focus and screen, and red, blue and green. Adjust only the screen controls very carefully and slowly. I would recommend reducing the red slightly brfore raising the green and then blue until the picture looks acceptable. Be sure to center the on screen controls before starting.
