Works off mains and battery but wont charge battery.

Works off 240v mains ok, works off of battery ok, but will not charge, have tried 2 separate batteries and it just blinks fast to say batteries are dud, but they charge in my drill charger fine. Have checked both fuses inside on mains board and charger board, both ok.
What next ?

Why is it not charging?

1 Battery no longer holds a charge
2 Charger is faulty
33 Charger circuit does not function

This is assuming the mains socket works ok

Try a different charger, if that does not do the trick you know it is either batteries or charging circuit. Then change batteries, if that does not work you know it is a charging circuit fault

Dewalt de0245

These de0245 chargers are designed to detect certain problems that can arise with battery packs which would be indicated by the red light flashing at a fast rate.

If this occurs, re-insert battery pack. If problem persists, try a different battery pack to determine if the charger is OK. If the new battery charges correctly, then the original pack is defective and should be returned to a service centre for recycling.

If the new battery pack gives the same trouble indication as the original, have the charger tested at an Authorised Service Centre.

I put in a new battery and now the radio beeps when it is keyed up. I put the old battery back in and it works fine. Both batteries fully charged. Any suggestions?

A beep when keyed up can mean a low battery.
1) It is possible your new battery did not take its initial charge, it can take as many as 3 chargings to 'jump start' a new battery. You might try charging the battery an addition 2 full charge cycles.
2) Try the new battery in another SP50 radio to see if it works, or test with a volt meter, if available.
3) Double check the battery is the correct HNN9018 or equivalent NiCd battery. If you are using an after-market battery, check to see if it is a NiCd. If it is a NiMH battery you will need a fast rate charger to charge it up. (On an SP50 the fast rate charger has a blue button on the tray which needs pressed to put it in fast charge mode)
4) This may sound silly, but check to see you installed the battery the correct way. On a Motorola battery the STOP sign would not be visible when installed correctly.
5) If all these items do not solve the 'new battery' problem, you should return the battery to the place of purchase for an exchange.

Best regards.

You are looking at having to replace the motherboard here, as the charging circuit appears to not be working. I assume the computer works as long as it's plugged in, so the DC-in jack must be OK

Camcorder not charging

Since the camcorder will power up and work with the charger connected, it sounds like the battery has died and will no longer hold a charge.

I have 3 blinking red lights

Here are the steps: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a No power repair or a new cable. I have an acer 4050 Travelmate, it has just suddenly stopped charging the battery. The machine works with the battery out and on 240v. If you put the battery in and on 240v it wont turn on. The battery has...

Sounds like the battery and how the system is wired (circuits)
Some systems require the voltage reg chips to run through the battery before turning system on. When the battery fails, the system will not boot, the dead battery interrupts the circuitry.
Once the Battery is removed the open circuit then is allowed to go to a new path.

Try this. boot up system and go into set up utility. plug in the battery, if it shuts down, get new battery. If it accepts it, save settings and reboot into OS.

Battery led is blinking, this usually means your battery is faulty. Try replacing the battery with a new or tested second hand one.

Hope this helps
