When I tried to add a new floppy driver to my gateway computer, the computer is telling me that I already have a 3 1/2 floppy drive. No matter what I do, I keep getting the same thing. Even when I uninstal the driver and I turn the computer off and on again, I get the message that a new hardware has been found, the 3 1/2 floppy that physically does not exist in my computer.
Also the computer does recognize my new 3 1/2 driver.
    Can anybody help?

do search on ebay for floppy cable and you will see cables with both 5.25 ad 3.5 disks. Just mount each drive on each side of the "crossover" so they are A & B.. tada!

Driver for Teac FD-505 Combo Floppy Drive?

You may have to enable 'A' drive through the bios. Depending on the bios, you need to hit F1 or F2 or F10 at initial start up. You can hit all three at once and get into the bios. Then navigate your way through the bios to find where to enable and disable drives.

Bios does not recognize the floppy drive

This Setup/BIOS can be reached by striking a certain key during boot; for most machines, it is the Delete/Del key.

Restart your you will see a certain key to press usually the F2 or Delete key

press and hold that key to enter set up.

Once in BIOS/CMOS using the arrow keys navigate to information about all your hardware (hard drive floppy CD-ROM etc) If you don't know how to find it, look in anything resembling Basic or General settings.

If this information is not listed there, look around in the different settings being careful not to change anything until you do find it.

Since BIOS's differ from PC to PC it is impossible to say what heading to find the information on.
to access any of the settings select the name press enter

Once you reach the settings for the drives go down to the Floppy and select it.

If you are trying to get Windows to see it enable the Floppy drive.

If you are trying to get Windows to forget it disable it.

if you change any settings by mistake

you can always load failsafe or optimised defaults

press escape then F10 to save to cmos to restart

hope it helps

I have xp in my pc. I used usb disk driver but it did not work ... I do not know where is the problem

You must go to the BIOS setup and enable USB floppy drive support, and while you are at it, enable the so-called legacy drive support. Save the configuration and restart the computer.
How you access the Bios setup utility depends on your computer: At boot, you press F1 or F2 or F10, .... Check your user's manual.

Cannot boot to dos

You must be sure that the "USB boot" functionality is supported and enabled on your PC BIOS, otherwise the drive won't boot. Furthermore, be sure that the floppy disk you are trying to boot to is bootable in the first place, otherwise you can check some nice "boot disks" on (guess what?) BootDisk.com

Enjoy ;-)

Can't find drivers for mitsumi floppy drive D3553FUE

floppy drives are installed on most newer operating systems. When installing a floppy drive, you do have to be certain the floppy driver is enable in the system BIOS. That is generally the problem when you cannot get a computer to recognize a floppy dirve.

My floppy drive does not seem to recognise that a floppy disk is inserted...after inserting a floppy disk and trying to run it ......it says ' please insert disk into drive A' ? any advice would be much...

Hello there!

Well, you 1st should check is your floppy drive properly insterted into your pc mb. Open your hardware check the joins on your FD(floppy drive) if thats ok, assemble the box. Next move is to check is your FD even enabled in ps BIOS. Open your bios acess general settings, and you should find setting flopy disc 1,28~ enable/disable.

After that if you still experience problems you should thinking about usage of usb pen drives, since floppy drive systems are really outdated, as I know there never been any drivers for that system , so those steps should solve your problem.

Sincerely
Aleksandar Adzic

USB floppy drive support may not enabled by default in the BIOS. Enter the BIOS setup utility and enable USB-FD support.

I installed floppy drive in a desktop that never had a floppy drive, but I can't get A:/ to appear in My Computer. Do I need some sort of driver?

Hi there.

No you don't need a driver, as they run on controllers. If the system never had a floppy drive before, then you will probably need to turn the controllers on in the BIOS.

When you turn the system on, keep pressing F2, or Del. This will open your BIOS settings screen. The first screen you should be looking at, tells you the time and date. It should also allow you to change any floppy drives you may or may not have. If you can't change them, then you may need to have a look through all you settings, and find the one called FDC (Floppy Drive Controller). Make sure it's Enabled. Once you have done this, save and exit. The system will reboot, and you should now have access to the floppy drive.

If you need me to clarify anything, just reply to this post. If it works, please rate it.
