Shredder keeps running

shredders have a small lever that is near the cutters that is depressed by the paper that is being shredded, when the paper clears the lever, the shredder shuts off. If it keeps running, paper is sticking in the lever area, holding it down so the shredder cannot turn off. Unplug the shredder and clear the area untill the lever or little arm can move freely, and the problem is solved.

There seems to be a power ise when switch ingages breaker shuts off

I own a Fellowes PS 60 shredder.
I DO NOT THINK THE LINK WILL HELP YOU, BUT AT LEAST YOU WILL HAVE IT.
I advise you NOT to use your shredder if it is causing the cicuit to shut off_it may start a fire!

Here is a link to the manual for a Fellowes PS60 Shredder.
Maybe it will help you in resolving some of your problems.

Unit no longer shuts off when on "Auto" setting. I have to use this switch manually to turn unit on and off for every use, and would like to restore original functionality.

Don't know what kind of shredder is is but most have one or two eyes or switches that tell the shredder to start and also tell is to stop. these eyes get paper dust on them and will not shut off
, or they could be bad eyes or switches. Use can air and blow down in center of shredder gears and see if it solves problem. Also shredders shuld be lubricated with shredder oil every now and then....

My shredder stopped working in the middle of a shred. I have cleaned all shredding from it, but it still refuses to run. Is there a thermo cut off switch, and if so, where?

  • Shut off the shredder. Unplug it and let in cool down for up to one hour. This will work if the shredder has stopped due to excessive use.

  • 2

Check to see if the shredder is jammed. This is the most common cause of shredder problems. Click the power switch to reverse, which should clear a minor jam. If not, set the shredder to auto, and then to reverse again until the jam clears.

  • 3

Clear extremely stubborn paper jams by grabbing the stuck paper and gently pulling it out. If smaller pieces of paper cause the jam, shut off the shredder and unplug it. When it cools down, carefully use a pair of tweezers to remove the paper bits.

  • 4

Determine if the power supply to the shredder is working properly. If the power supply is cold, use an alternative source of electricity for your shredder. If it is warm, there may be a problem with the shredder itself. Call your office machine repair shop or the shredder manufacturer for assistance.

Sharpen or oil the blades. Shredder blades need to be oiled on a regular basis to keep your machine in proper working order. Get oil made specifically for shredder blades from an office supply store.

The unit shuts down after using for 4-5 minutes and I smel burnig

Sadly, light duty machines as yours do overheat and shut off. Shredders are rated for run time. An example: 4 min run time with 60 min off to cool down. I could not find your machine's rating. However, given the 10 page volume I would guess the rating close to the 4 min on.
High volume shredders are rated as continuous run. They should never over heat.
