Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I took videos with my canon powershot S400, saw them on the computer, and downloaded two. When I returned to do the rest, the entire contents of my memory card was deleted, all the videos and the previous still shots. What could have happened, and is there any way to retrieve the pictures? Thank you. Joan

I never received any help from your experts. I don't think this problem can be solved at home. I need to find a way to retrieve the videos from the memory card using software that only the card manufacturer may have. Please refund my $14.99. Thank you very much. Joan

I took the memory card to a camera shop and they were able to retrieve bits of the photos with their software. Not satisfactory, but better than I could do.

Thank you for your response. I wonder if I would be able to have a refund, please. thanks. Joan

How do i get my canon powershot s400 to take atake self timer picture

Hello. I can assist you. Click on your camera's menu and find the rec menu. Then look for a symbol similar to a clock with one hand pointing at about 10:00. I am going to give you a free downloadable copy of the owner manual All of the details about the self timer are on page 60.

Canon has recognized that the IXUS400\S400 camera had two manufacturing defects. One is a memory card error and the other is the CCD image sensor which can cause the LCD screen to act dysfunctional. Contact Canon. They will fix these issues for free. Even if the camera is out of factory warranty.

Canon Powershot Importing Problems

Hi,

Depending on the operating system running in your office PC which could either be Windows XP or Vista, drivers are downloadable/available from the Canon website here.

Additionally, you can also verify if the Canon PowerShot S400 is Vista compatible. Should you still be having issues after downloading OS appropriate drivers, pls post back.

Alternately, you can remove the Canon PowerShot S400's memory card and pop it into a memory card reader with the USB plug connected to the PC's USB port. Windows will treat the memory card + reader as an external storage device and would be a matter of drag & drop. copy/paste.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Memory card error

Canon will fix this for you for free. It's an inherent fault with the S400. It has a little internal button battery that causes the problem as it gets old and run down. Check this website for more info. Look for the bright/bold yellow post describing how to return to Canon.

Good Luck!
