Question about Philips Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have a Philips FW-M575 shelf stereo system. When I plug my ipod into the USB direct, I was wondering if there's anyway to control my playlists and what not on my ipod still. As it is now, it plays only certain songs off of my ipod. Is there anyway to access your playlists?

make sure that your shelf stereo in IPOD ready most unit need a bridge of some sort or a dock. If your receiver is ready and it is not working still then the problem is in the multi media device.

I have the same problem with a CDE-9870R and my iPod. I tried my daughter's iPod, and it works. I did not search any further, but it may come from the iPod software version. Mine is more up-to-date than hers (5th generation iPod 1.1.2 2006-06-28 update).

SOURCE: navigating through ipod playlists

I called Kenwood and figured out the problem. If you just use a regular USB cable like the one that goes to the computer the radio treats it as a mass storage device. You have to get the KCA-iP200 cable which plugs in the back as well as the usb in the front and then they go into the iPod. Then you can control your playlist. I found a new one online for $13.

SOURCE: I have a Hitachi AX-m133

Hi
I recently got one of these and had the same problems. These were solved as follows.

Firstly, for small devices such as USB sticks and MP3 players they must be formated as FAT32 otherwise they cant be read, NTFS does not appear to be supported.

Secondly, for portable hard drives they must be also formated to FAT32 they also need to be externaly powered. For my 2 1/2" lap top drive the power from the USB port on the machine was not enough to fire up the drive I had to use a Y cable plugged into a mains usb charger to boost the power it then worked fine. Also be a little patient as it will take a little while to read the drive, this will depend on the drive capacity but you should hear the drive ticking over as it does this

Hi, We have a 18 year old Kenwood stereo which is still working perfectly and would like to plug in the ipod Touch is this possible if so how. Many thanks Nicky

"Plug in" as an iPod interface - not directly. ANYthing that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2
and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono".

I imagine the iPod manual speaks to that, too, somewhere.

How do I hook up my ipod to my pioneer vsx d409 ?

The best way is to use a 3,5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable like this:
technical114_34.jpg
You can easily find one like this at your local audio/electronics shop or buy one on line. You have to connect the RCA at any free stereo input at the back of your Pioneer (like aux or cd). Take a look at this picture:
technical114_35.jpg
After this you can use the 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting not only your ipod but every mp3 player or other device has an earphone jack. Just plug the 3.5mm jack at the earphone jack and rise the volume at the portable device up to the middle of the volume range and set your Pioneer input selector at the stereo input that you connect the 2 RCA before (aux or cd)

How do i connect an ipod to my sony str-de310 receiver

Connecting to a home stereo
  1. For most home stereo systems, connect iPod to your amplifier's sound input using a 3.5 mm mini stereo to RCA adapter cable.
  2. Adjust the volume on iPod to less than half to prevent overdriving your amplifier. Adjust the listening volume using your stereo's controls.

Note: Depending on your stereo, iPod may need to be set higher than half in order to get a proper volume through external speakers.

Will NAD 712 accept an iPod Docking Station?

A 712 is not set up to use an Ipod USB dock.  You can buy a dock that will use RCA jacks into an old stereo - Apple sells them, others too.  Then the Ipod sits up and you can look at it.  Or you can buy the 1/8" stereo plug to two RCA plugs that Radio Shack has been selling for 30-40 years, plug one end into your Ipod headphone jack, and run the two RCA plugs into your Aux input.  That costs about $5, and is easy as pie.  An Ipod will play through any old receiver, but the USB docks will not plug into them.

Hooking up a turntable to a JVC XM-J50 Via AUX port.

You need a phono pre-amp for magnetic cartridge. This will amplify the magnetic cartridge output from its low level to line level which is required for your amplifier.

This can be bought at most audio-file type distributors and stores. There are different quality levels in these depending on how much you want to pay.
