Question about GE JTP45 Electric Double Oven

Installing a GE Double Elec Oven (JTP45)

I have recently purchased a white GE Double Electric Oven from a church salvage sale. It was only used for 3 months, then sat at the church for a couple years. It has all the parts and pieces, except for a manual. I need to get this oven installed, but have no idea on the specs and measurements required. The space it will be going into currently holds a single oven with deep wood drawer cabinets underneath, that I have to gut and remove to make room for the taller unit. I am looking for an installation guide/manual, be it online or hardcopy. If you can help, I'd appreciate it!

SOURCE: how to install GE JKP35DPBB 27" Double Electric

The specs for this double oven give a rating of 5.1kW at 208V so it needs a 30 Amp circuit breaker. This assumes that the oven is the only appliance on the circuit. So you should be able to use the same circuit breaker.

A bigger consideration is that the opening for the double oven needs to be larger than that of the single oven. If the opening does not have a solid bottom, it must be able to support a heavier load. The runners and braces under a single oven has to support 200 pounds (91 kg). A double oven must have braces and runners designed to hold 375 pounds (171 kg).

Also check if your household uses aluminum wiring. The new oven has copper and problems will occur at the interface if you do not use the appropriate precautions. (Products designed for mating copper and aluminum are available - follow the directions).

I hope this helps.

(btw: you can find the User's Guide and Installation manual for the double oven at GE's website: http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=JKP35DPBB . See the section Literature and Manuals on the left hand side of the page below the picture of the oven.)

If it has a red button in the middle, push it until it clicks. If no red button, you have to replace the thermal fuse.

Jtp45 lower oven hot heating on any cycle

Possibly a tripped thermal fuse. Should be located behind the panel in between the upper and lower ovens. Might have a red reset button on it you can push down. If it clicks and then works again, look for possible cooling fan problems.

I have just installed a new electronic control in my JTP45 Electric double oven. (part WB27K5273). I have a schematic, but so far have not figured out why that when I open the door the unit turns off and...

It does sound like a wiring mistake. Check all the connections and the wire colors against the colors on the Tech Sheet wiring diagram (which is normally taped on inside the control panel). Particularly look closely at how the door switch and lock connector is plugged in. You may have reversed the plug.

My oven gets a F2 code

F2 means usually, that the board detected that it's too hot.
You either need a new control board or a temp. sensor.

I have a F0 on the display of my double oven JTP45 model

Giggles01: I wish I had an answer other than calling GE. We are about to install a used oven of the same model/same vintage. I've been unable to locate a manual and need some information from it. Would you be willing to tell me the cut-out size the manual calls for regarding the installation of the oven? Most 30" ovens require a 28.5" cut-out, and I need to confirm that for the JTP45. Thank you!
