Both the remote and base units have a very small hole near the battery spot, less than 1/8" in diameter. Push something smaller than the hole into it, like the end of an unbent paper clip. The base unit, at least, will give a tiny beep and it will have reset. The remote may not beep, but also will be reset.

Remote sensor (thn122) not working, batteries changed, terminals cleaned

I have had this Oregon Scientific model RAR186 unit for years and it works great. The only issue I ever have is when the batteries need to be changed in the remote sensor unit (Oregon scientific model #THN122). It never fails that once I change the batteries that the unit does not send a signal to the base unit. I will often hit the reset button and change the channels on the remote sensor before I finally remember that you need to do the following to get the sensor to talk to the RAR186 base unit:

On the base unit (RAR186), hold down the CHANNEL and MEM buttons for at least two seconds.
You will then see a graphic appear above the channel number that shows that it is searching for the sensor.
Within a minute, you will then see the temperature displayed for the sensor showing that they are communicating.

This is buried in the manual that you probably discarded as did I.

Apparently, if your sensor is broken, you can either search to find a new sensor of the same model or also use the following sensors: THC138, THGR122NX, or THN132N
I have not needed to replace the sensor as once I found the instructions to reset the communication between the sensor and base unit, all was fine. Hope this helps someone. I wrote this instruction using a Sharpie on the inside cover of the sensor since you have to remove 3 screws to replace the AAA batteries (2) in hopes I will remember next time and not waste my time searching the internet and not find the answer. Good luck!

Ceiling fan remote control doesn't work

Sounds like you have an add-on remote. Try changing the frequency in the receiver & transmitter. If that doesn't work you probably need a new receiver.

Remote doesn't turn on or off TV

Hello!
First thing to do is: make sure, remote is working. Use your cell phone's camera to look at the front of the remote through. Push "power" button. Working remote will start emit infrared pulses or just light up. you can't see it with your ***** eyes, but camera can and let you see it. If remote works, then you may try to use universal remote to confirm operations. If none of remotes turn your set on/off, then the problem is inside of your TV. sensor or adjacent board is bad. that requires repair of your TV. If you can handle it, go ahead, pull it apart. But first, make sure you can get replacement board. "shopjimmy.com" might help you. enter the model# on search and they will show all available parts.
Good luck,
Alex.

The readout on the thermostat says "bae lo". I pulled the face of the thermostat off the wall and it reset and I was able to push "run program", but the furnace did not come on.

welcome to Fixya !

here are some steps that you may follow. open the remote and remove batterys or cell of your model for six seconds (i dont know .cause you didnt mensioned the Model.) then place them back.
start the A/C again , see if it works if it doesn't then follow the lower step. and if it helps ignore the rest of paragraph

now open the Air conditioning vent and find the Sensor of the remote near the sensor there shall be a button very small one , maybe its located in a hole. check and observe keenly .
just push that button for once .it will reset the AC. to default

if it doesn't help then comment with a model no

Wireless thermo clock not reading outside temp

I've had a similar problem with another model, an Oregon Scientific Model IWA-80055 Wireless Thermo Clock, in which when I replaced the batteries in the remote sensor, the clock would not read the temperature from the remote sensor.
I found it fairly consistent to solve this by taking a battery out of place in the clock and putting it back in.  Unfortunately this also messed up the clock's time and date.  This is also in the instructions catalogue for the device, check and see if yours gives a similar solution.
