Ok Basically whats happening is that your phone is not recognizing that there is an android upgrade available, this is a bug in the software.
before performing a hard reset make sure that all your applications are upto date as they may interfere with the update process. once you update all your apps check the update screen again.
through
Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates
To perform a hardware reset goto
Settings -> Privacy -> factory reset
and follow the prompts.
your contact and paid application information will be saved on googles servers, remove your SD card to save pictures and videos before performing a reset.
there are free applications in the Android Market to back up text messages as well.
Best of Luck.
Contact a LG service representative, i doubt any further work could be done without messing around with root files and that voids your warranty and i would not recommend doing without previous experience. Sorry it didnt work, i did a quick search and it appears lots of people are having issues with that particular device and that the 2.1 update is buggy as well with dropped calls/phone going straight to voicemail.
sorry i couldnt help further.
Your welcome, good luck on the upgrade.
write me a quick testimonial if you feel like it :)

i just checked what you said,
and here what is written:
-firmware version 1.6,
-kernel version 2.6.29 ,
and the version that i want to upgrade is 2.1, so i think there's a problem here.
moreover, i did format my LG as you told me ( by the factory reset) but the software wont reset .
so any suggestions???
thank you :)
ok thanks alot daniel :)
