This appears to be a common problem. Sounds like the current is not being shared while in use. If you know the battery to be good, I'd check the output voltage of the charger 1st and see it is putting out the right voltage. The chargers for the Mini series are weird, so may be worthwhile borrowing another charger to eliminate it from the problems.

After that... you may need to get the laptop checked by Dell

My laptop won't hold a charge. have a new battery

Is the battery a genuine Dell battery? 3rd party batteries can be high quality or crap, just depends on the maker. Regardless, when you attempt to charge it, does it at least take a charge even though it won\'t hold it? Or does the battery refuse to accept a charge at all? When you plug in your laptop, does the charge light come on? Does the the battery level icon on the lower-right corner of the screen show it\'s plugged in? I know, lots of questions.

Dell inspiron M5030 won't charge, green light is

This is a common problem. It may be that the charger is dammaged. these Dell chargers have a micro thin communication cable in them that tell the charger to charge the battery. this micro thin cable can often break. Its use it to prevent the laptop battery from over charging, but if it breaks or becomed broken inside tha charger cable, then the laptop simply won't get the charge signal and the battery won't charge. If this is the case, then you will need to replace the charger with another Dell charger compatible with your laptop

My inspiron 1545 wont turn on battery and charger are fine can anyone tell what could be wrong

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Labtop not charging

Try removing the battery and see if the laptop powers on. If it still doesn’t power on then either the motherboard is defective or the AC adaptor may have a broken wire in the cable.
