Question about Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera

Open Question

Usb cable Is there a special cable to use for viewing on the computer? My regular digital usb does not work. There is no place on the V-tech to plug it in. I only see a hole for a prong type. Where can I get one for my granddaughter's camera. She has been wanting to view on the computer since she has it for months. If it was supposed to come with one, it didn't. Please reply. How to view pictures off ch-ez splash digital camera

Be aware your camera expects a 5 Volt on the usb cable, for charging, unless a computer gives a signal that is connected to transfer pictures. Then the computer will "tell" the camera how to transport the pictures. So don't expect your camera to become a unintelligent USB memory stick.

Most digital cameras (NOT ALL but the exceptions are sold as such)
can't be connected to the computer, when they are switched on.
Most digital camera's will shut down, when connected to the USB card. Your Canon G10 is no exception. Most of the time when connecting the USB cable the camera changes in an external memory drive for the computer. Some camera's can be charged via the USB cable. Even when connected to a computer.
Even when I want to connect my DSLR to a computer, to do life view on my computer screen, I have to install special (payed) software, to let it work.
Without the software running, the same DSLR always shuts down and only will download pictures when another program is started.

Please Help! I bought a Kodak Easyshare Z1485 IS off eBay, and it came with nothing. At all. I just ordered a USB cable from Amazon so I can transfer photos to my Windows XP Pro computer. The camera seems...

You don't need any special software (or a USB cable, for that matter).

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Where does the USB cord plug into the camera? There's an outlet on the bottom, but it's not a typical usb camera port

If you have a mini USB D port on it, the small part of the cable goes to this, and the regular USB connection goes to the computer.

Do you have the right cable for this camera?

Cannot download pic.s from camers to pc.

I would remove the memory card and use that to transfer the media to your pc.... I can't tell you why it is not showing up on any of the pc's. The only thing I can think of is possibly the usb cord is bad or that vivicam has special software you need to download. But you can definately get the media onto to your pc by bypassing the usb cord and remove the media from the card and place it in a folder on your pc .. hope this helps... good luck

We are looking for a usb cable to download our pictures from the camera to our PC. Where is the best place to buy one for this camera?

Best Buy or Wal-Mart or Target. You need a USB type A to mini USB cable, unless your camera takes a special plug. They should only be about $10 or so. Try eBay if no one has this cable, but Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, all carry them.

camera should have had a usb cable in package-simply plug cable into camera and usb port and computer should recognize and offer to start transfer-if not use a memory card reader to download pics also works great and doesn't waste batterys on camera while you download

Camera undetected by computer

Although I haven't had this issue with my S2 IS specifically, I have with 2 other digital cameras. The solution in both cases was to power the camera on BEFORE plugging in the USB cable.

In other words - Plug the computer end of the USB cable into the computer, do not plug the camera end in. Power up the camera in "picture view" mode, THEN plug the USB cable into the camera.

Not sure about Vista, but with XP, you should hear the familiar "Dong-ding" as the system recognizes the camera.
