You are correct, the battery is faulty.
Depends on where you are to how quick the battery can be replaced under warranty (if the camera is still with in the new warranty period) or purchase a new one (if the camera is out of any type of warranty).
In Australia we currently have 1200 in stock. We can do Warranty replacments over the counter while the customer waits(10 minutes of paper work) or sell the battery over the counter instantly.
