You are correct, the battery is faulty.
Depends on where you are to how quick the battery can be replaced under warranty (if the camera is still with in the new warranty period) or purchase a new one (if the camera is out of any type of warranty).

In Australia we currently have 1200 in stock. We can do Warranty replacments over the counter while the customer waits(10 minutes of paper work) or sell the battery over the counter instantly.

Sorry i cant help you any more, but if you are in Melbourne Australia look us up (we are the Authorised Warranty service agent for Casio in Vic, Tas, SA, WA) and we will be able to help you today if you come in to us directly.

I found this while trying to solve my exact same problem.. It worked for me after about 7 times. Some other people on the site said it worked for them after 20 times. Good luck!

My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

When the battery is in the charger it flashes red & won't charge, have no idea what problem is! Have casio exilim lithium ion NP-20 battery & a casio exilim 7.2 megapixels camera. Can't turn camera...

I called casio and they told me that when you have a red flashing light on the charger it means the lithium battery is no longer any good. They offered to send me one free of charge. It's been several weeks and I have yet to receive it.

Battery Dont Charge

I had the same problem. I had a 1 year warranty, so I called 1800-435-7732 and they sent me a new battery within 5 days. I just received it today and it works perfectly. Hope this helps you! =]

Won't turn on

I've seen a lot of Casio chargers go bad, not charge the battery, and then this is what happens. I've been using an aftermarket charger and battery I got off eBay, and they work great. I've even used the aftermarket charger to "revive" batteries that the Casio charger wouldn't charge up.

I had the same problem, the charger kept blinking red when I attempted to charge the battery.
This morning I called casio and they are sending me a out a new battery free of charge, and i don't have to send the old one back. It only took about 10 minutes and they said I should get it in about a week or so. So hopefully this helps everyone who has the same issue as I did.

My digital camera exilim s-770sr

if the red light on ur charger flashes you need to call tech support and tell them you have a bad battery. They will take your information and have you send in your battery. They will replace the battery for you if it is less than one year old.
