We have a whirlpool refridgerator with the freezer on top with an ice maker in the freezer. The Icemaker is working fine.. but what is happening is the drain at the back of the freezer keeps freezing up and then the condensation backs up and instead of draining down the drain hole at the back of the freezer, it dripps into the fridge all over everything on the top shelf of the fridge. We've a taken out the bottom tray in the freezer and taken everything out to keep an eye on it,, but if I don't poke my finger into the hold every couple of days and removing the frost,, it will freeze over... Any idea? I've checked the temperature controls and I've set them to the regular setting... It's driving me nuts.. I also have a ten year old Whirlpool refridgerator and it is pooling water throughout the fridge and which freezes under the vegetable bins. It is such a bother and even if it gets fixed what's to say it won't start up again. I don't know what to do with it.
YOU FIRST SOLUTION TO THE DRAIN HOLE FREEZING UP YOU NEED TO GET A TECHNICIAN TO HAVE A LOOK AND REPAIR IT,IT WILL BE BEST IF HE INSTALLS A PAD HEATER TO KEEP THE DRIP TRAY FROM ICING UP.YOUR SECOND PROBLEM YOU NEED TO SEE IF THE DRAIN HOLE IN THE FRIDGE SECTION IS NOT BLOCKED WITH ANYTHING IF SO HAVE IT CLEANED AND POUR SOME HOT WATER DOWN TO WASH OUT WAT IS IN THE DRAIN PIPE.GOOD LUCK.MOHAMED
The water supply line from the water inlet valve enters the rear of the freezer and releases the water into a large diameter fill tube. The fill tubes hangs above the fill cup which funnels the water into the ice mold. If the fill tube and fill cup are improperly aligned, water may spill out instead of going into the mold.
