When I put a cd in my jvc cd player it reads no disc - the radio on the player works

This is usually cased because the unit is sensing that your spindle motor is not turning or turning at a slower speed then normal. "The spindle motor is the motor that spins the disc. This is the most common problem found in DVD and CD players.

Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

CD player won't work

Firstly is it burnt or factory cd? Most factory cd players won't play a burnt disk.
If you have a store-made cd and it is not reading that, then the lens inside the player is dirty and needs to be blown out with a can of "airduster"

CD player fails to read CDs Sharp CD BA150 3 Disc Rotary Charger System : Issue; CDs that are loaded into the trays do not read/play, even though they did previously. Most disks will spin a little while...

This is a typical problem when the laser " eye" gets dust on it, unplug the unit and you can try to remove cover and spray the optical pickup "eye' with canned compressed air or other type of optical cleaner found at say like radio shacks, I have solved many disc reading errors with this method

My ancient Sharp CD - BA150 bookshelf stereo 3-disc CD player has suddenly stopped working. Even with 3 discs in tray, player won't recognize they're there and reads" NO DISCS" on LCD display....

I have repaired a lot of these exact Sharp stereo's and can say with certainty that you have a bad laser pick-up. The only cure for your problem is to have the pick-up replaced. It says no disc because that part is bad and can not read the disc, so it thinks there is no disc.

A repair for this would cost in the area of $125 to $150 depending on the rates of the service center you take it to.

This should give you the information you need to determain if it is worth fixing to you.

Sorry it is not something you could fix easy, but that is just the nature of these types of stereo's. That part, the laser pick-up, is a very expensive part. I have no idea why they charge so much for it, but it is killing the repair centers making so many of these too costly to fix.

I hope this helps, let me know if you require any further help.

My cd player doesnt read the cds.

It is maybe your CD is very old or damaged. Or you are using a CD-ROM or pirated CD's or not properly burned CD's. Friend you must use a clean CD's to make your CD player read its contents.

Mini disc player will not read disc

Minidisc player is just a small version of a CD player and has the same types of issues. Either the lens is diry or the optics are failing. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the problem, the optics assembly will need to be replaced.
