Question about GE Nautilus 24" Built-in Dishwasher

GE Nautilus wont start

The dishwasher can be closed, and the dial can be turned, but when i turn the dial nothing happens, the motor doesnt even attempt to turn. The soap tray opens up when the dial is turned past that point in the cycle, but nothing else. I checked, and it is wired directly to electricity; so its not unplugged. Any thoughts for what i can do to fix it?

I am having the same problem as the other person.

The machine is plugged in and all hooked up. I am thinking it has something to do with the switch itself.

I've flipped the breaker switch to off, then turned the dishwasher to the off position. Flipped the breaker switch back on and turned the dishwasher switch to the start position. Nothing. My thinking here was sort of a "reboot" of the computer memory thing.

I've fiddled with the locking mechanism. Pushing it really hard in the lock position while dial is in the start position. Open the locking mechanism then with the dial in start, slowly closing the lock all the way closed. Nothing seems to work.

I have this same problem as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? We just moved into this apartment a month ago, and this dishwasher stopped working. Like they said, you can turn the knob and the soap tray will open, but it doesn't turn on.

Same problem. Dishwasher worked fine one day then a few days later, nothing. There is no reaction at all when I try to turn it on.

This is NOT the common stuck-motor problem, I took off the kickplate as suggested in some other threads here, to see if the motor was stuck but it was fine.

I'm not an electrical engineer so unless someone has a suggestion for this one, I'll have to call a repair guy.

I also have a GE Nautilus. Same problem. Flipped the breaker. Nothing. Soap comes out when I spin the dial. No power. Checked the power under the kick plate. Nothing. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

Check the two switches under the inside cover of the door. there are two switches under the flimsy metal switch actuator, one switch has a black wire in both ends the other switch should have two white or white/red strip wires on one end and one white or white/red wire on the other end. the black wire is power the white wire is your neutral. both switches should have a button in the middle that is pushed in by the flimsy metal switch actuator when you lock the door shut. i had to replace the switch for my neutral when mine quit working. you can remove this switch and get the part number off of it. you can look it up on line or call a small appliance repair store to see if they have the part or can order it for you. remember to unplug the dishwasher before you remove the the inside cover of the door. hope this helps. I removed the inside door cover. There is a little metal plate that serves as a switch actuator. It presses the two push-button switches that are near the top by the latch. My plate had broken loose from its plastic anchor point and was laying near the bottom of the door. I reattached it with a piece of duct tape and voila, a working dishwasher! The whole process took 5 minutes and requires one large head phillips screwdriver and 2 small pieces of duct tape.

My problem was that the flimsy metal switch activator was loose in its housing in the inner door, and so wasn't depressing the two switch buttons. I've secured it with caulking adhesive, and it works now but this is a short term solution and I may have to buy a new inner door soon.

Looks like you need to replace the timer/cycle panel on your appliance.
Try first unplugging machine for 20 minutes, to see if this reset can fix the problem.

No water goes into dishwasher. Dishwasher has only been used 2times. Came new with house 3.6 years ago. Pulled front panel off...everything appears to be connected motor fan runs.

I've experienced the same thing. Try very slowly rotating timer dial, click by click, until the water starts. Sometimes 3 or 4 clicks will start water. (You're advancing the clock.) Usually water starts in before the dial points to, "Short Wash." If this doesn't work, advance the dial to, "Off," unlock and open the door, reset, close, the soap dispenser, close and lock the door, and slowly advance the dial until the unit starts. I think this problem is a clock to pump issue and what I've described does a reset of the system. This happens to me once or twice per month. Poor engineering but still better than buying a new machine...at least 'till now.

Our Nautilus dishwasher won't turn on. I can hear a buzzing noise, but nothing is happening. Does anyone now what I should do?

The same thing happens with my dishwasher. I have made it work by doing the following. When you start up the cycle, turn the dial to just a tick before "start." If you hear the buzzing, but no water is running, unlock and then lock the dishwasher door again. This usually gets it running. If it's still not running water, unlock, advance the dial a little bit, and lock again. This should work. You need to be around for the early parts of the dishwashing cycle because this machine tends to stop up and buzz without running water until it gets past "short wash." Every time this happens, do the same thing, unlock and lock, and advance the dial a little when necessary. Once you get past "short wash," it should complete the wash without intervention.

These motors were famous for the seal sticking to shaft. If this is an older unit turn the fan on motor by hand until it breaks free. Do this with power off.

Soap door latch won't latch close

Make sure the dial that you turn to start the dishwasher is all the way to the beginning. Sometimes my little grandson comes by and plays with it, turning it. I load, add soap and the dispenser won't close. I check the outside dial, and sure enough, set it to the very beginning and the dispenser locks in place!
