Re: usb port not working
i read your problem. so all your stuff connected to usb port is not recognize or not detected at all?
If the pendrive and other stuff and not detected or not attempting to install then the usb ports got faulty. however if this attempting to install the driver. then you need to install the drivers related to your hardwares.
Vista OS is still updating the system to resolve the issue. Go to your hardwares manufacturer's website then download the latest driver for vista.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you're positive you didn't unplug or rip anything while installing new USB ports, trying checking/updating or rolling back the drivers for the touch pad. Installing new USB ports could have mis-configured something and disabled or modified your drivers for the touch pad.
well if you plug the usb cord that powers it into some thing else that has a usb port that is running electricty through it such as a pc you should be able to plug in any thing that needs charging with a usb cord that will go into the 4 ports . so i guess it should work i know it wont mess anything up so go ahead and try it. also if you got a usb wall charger that can hold a usb cord you can plug the 4 port usb hub into that and it will work like a charger for things with usb chargers.
try downloading the drivers from sony first
that is if you have already downloaded the proper usb drivers for your system in which case other usb device are still working
also it is possible that the usb port itself has gone bad or is in conflict with another driver assuming your using windows to check this you can start by telling me which version of windows you are using but more than likely the proper camera drivers will solve the issue
The only other thing that I would suggest you try to do is (if possible) goto another PC or maybe a friends PC and plug the web cam in. If it does the same thing then the web cam no longer works. If it does work, then you may want to try another USB port on your PC.
Resetting your USB Controllers
I'm going to assume that you're running XP (home or pro). Recently I had to refresh my USB ports. This is the sequence I used.
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties
2. Click Hardware
3. Click Device Manager
4. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller
5. Right-click each USB device listed and select Uninstall
6. Click OK to confirm removal of each device
Note: Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all devices under UBS Controller are removed
7. Shut down computer.
CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected instead of Restart.
8. Wait a few seconds and turn computer on. When it reboots you will see "Windows has detected new or added hardware"
Note: You will have to insert your Windows CD, if prompted.
These steps will refresh the USB ports.
Added Notes: 1) If your mouse is a USB you will have to use the
keyboard to shut down your computer. 2) It would be wise to unplug
everything from your USB ports EXCEPT your mouse and/or keyboard before
you restart the computer to avoid Windows replicating any printers,
scanners, digi-cams, etc. Once Windows has refreshed your USB
controllers and ports, shut down again. reconnect, and restart.
I have the same problem with the USB's not working. Suppliers say Motherboard problem. solved it by purchasing a PCMCIA to USB port. at least i now have 2 USB ports. you could probably get one with 3 ports.
