try removing you battery and powering it up....
it could be your charger, even if the power led is on there still could be a voltage failure...i,ve sorted a few laptops like that before.....
Or it could be the charging port connected to the motherboard??
Try to gently wiggle the adapter going into the charging port and powering it on...to see if that makes a diffence....
Hope this helps...if so please take the time to rate it,as i,ve taken the time to answer you...if i can be anymore help...
It could very likely be the motherboard causing the problem, in which case you're best off just getting a new computer rather than replacing or repairing the board, but it could also be a power issue.
Try turning the computer on with the battery installed and the AC adapter disconnected, and then try it with the AC adapter connected and the battery removed -- does it show the same symptoms both times?
If the notebook does not charge even after replacing it with new battery and checking with several chargers then it is laptop power jack issue.
You may need to replace it. However to confirm the issue is with power jack just remove the battery and try to power on the notebook only with AC adapter. If it does not then it is the power jack which is allowing the ac power to be charged.
If your notebook is in warranty then you can ship it to HP and if it is out of warranty then check the link below, you can purchase the power jack of the laptop from here.
It's possible that the AC adapter "died", and then your computer ran on battery-power until the battery went to 0%.
Or, the socket on the laptop where the AC adapter connects could have broken, or become disconnected from the motherboard, such that the power from the AC adapter was not being accepted, meaning that your computer was running on battery-power.
Take the AC adapter and the computer to a qualified technician, who can test that the AC adapter is working fine, and can disassemble the laptop, to inspect that socket where it connects.
Have you tried another power cord? If you try another power cord, and it still does the same thing, then I think your laptop is having a power problem. You need to take is to a technician to fix the problem for you.
