You can't extend a hard disk, you can extend a partition. That can be done only by taking space from another partition. If the D partition is on a separate hard disk or there is no more space left then you will need to install a larger hard disk , create another partition on it and move to it all the files to it. Or move the entire partition to the new disk then enlarge it to fill the disk using this programhttp://www.partition-tool.com/

My notebook hardisk is too small (8GB, ASUS) can I upgrade my Hardisk?

Yes you can BUT the maximum size you can update the hard drive depends upon the BIOS.
Alternative you can use an external USB hard drive to store your data and this is not restricted by the BIOS.

Hardisk tidak bisa terdeteksi oleh BIOS apa penyebabnya dan solusinya untuk memperbaiki ?

Hardisk tidak terdeteksi bisa di sebabkan oleh :
- Bad sektor
- Hardisk sudah lemah
- Cabel data rapuh/rusak

My laptop Model Compaq 5204NR I want to extend my hardisk. Is it possible to use External Hardisk for this model laptop. If it means how much can i use 1TB hardisk or which is suitable for this laptop....

Hello,

This laptop will accept any USB harddisk as it does have USB ports.

I would recommend a 500GB personally as this is the most cost effective and most users are not likely to need 1TB unless using your laptop as a media center or video/music editing platform.

Yes you can use an external HDD to extend your current HDD. If by extend you mean use the external HDD for storage and such.
However if you wanted to literally extend your current HDD by creating a single partition for both HDDs then it could be extremely problematic because the external HDD will be connected with an USB cable. If you were to accidentally unplug the usb cable then your whole system would crash.

You need to format your drive as FAT32.
If you are using Windows Vista or 7, you will have to google search for a FAT23 formatting tool. So take your data off the drive. Format the drive, put your files back on the drive and your good to go.
*************CAUTION************
There is a 4GB per file size limitation with FAT32!

I need to do a low level format for my hard disk. Bad sector problem. Do you guys have any application for that particular kind of formatting?

Bad sector on hardisk there two kinds of that is software and physical. physical badsector caused from plate of hardisk damage is caused by dirt, fallen down, collided, to be incised, etc. While software badsector can be caused when hardisk busy sudden die, cause of usually broken electrics current.

For the bad sector damage of physical of hardisk, we require a really of expert to repair the hardisk. While damage of software we can repair xself use software or tool. One of the software which can be used to repair bad sector on hardisk that is HDD Low Level Format Tool.

Using this software hardisk can be low level format. Require to be paid attention that using low level format on a hardisk, causing all data in hardisk will lose and cannot be recovery again. But this way will be more effective eliminate sector bad.

HDD Low Level Format Tool Support Hardisk SATA, ATA or SCSI, can is also used on removable media like flashcard, flasdisk and etc. To run this software is very easy, that is :

Hard drive on my computer is reporting 75MB left on a 20 gig drive with only word and a couple smaller programs on it - someone please give me an idea.

Hi!

Let's see how much left on your hardisk and how much space that your programs used in your disk..do this..

Double click the "My Computer" icon
Right click on your "Local Disk (C:)" drive and click properties...
The blue color indicator will tell you how much space was used by your programs on your hardisk..
The pink color indicator will tell you how much free space left on your hardisk
The capacity value should be more or less 19 GB..
See if this capacity value match in your drive..

If the capacity value of your drive is below 10 GB then my guess is you have a wrong setting for your hardisk... Look physically in your hardisk. Between the port of ide cable and power supply connector you will see terminals with jumper on it.. The jumper is used to short the terminal. the function of the terminal is to assign the hardisk as slave, master, cable connector and or limit the capacity of the hardisk to some amount.. Check the label of the hardisk.. schematic diagram on it will explain where to put the jumper...

If the setting of the jumper was correct and the capacity value of your drive match to approximately 19 GB... then I suggest you browse the files on your drive. Check all its sizes.. There could be movies there that eats your space.

I hope I explained to you everything you need to know..

Much appreciated if you rate this help.. thanks

My hardisk 1tb only shows 500gb space, just bough it yessterday and i have installed it in port 0 and an other hardisk off 500 gb was installed on port 1 and when i go into my computer i only see both...

If you're using the original XP version it wasn't able to format the correct size of the hard drives. You need to find a version with Service Pack 2 and boot off that CD in order to format the correct size of the drives. You could also boot off a Vista installation CD and format the correct size.

Hard disk can not detect and giving beep randomly. hard diisk is from seagate and capacity is 80 gb

Hello there..i have experience with same problem like this...there is two problem with hardisk: first with the mechanic platter inside your hardisk ( you can hear noisy sound from inside HDD) 'cause by wrong prosedure when turn off the pc or problem with chipset on hardisk board (you can see the small green pcb board at other side of your hard disk) touch that board...if feel hot yes there is problem.this problem cause by electrical shock from your power supply unit or you not plugin correctly to hdd power socket.

solution for first problem :
send it to nearest seagate 'cause they have all the parts that you need

solution for second problem:
replacle the board with same tipe and size of your hdd..and it will work again and you can safe your data.but if not...nothing you can do it
