Maytag microwave light bulb MMV5207BA/BC

This is the most unfriendly consumer problem I can remember ever dealing with. In order to change the Maytag microwave light bulb you need to practically disassemble the unit reach inside (small hands are needed) and when you replace the Maytag bulb with a standard 20 watt appliance bulb as the manual says, you discover that a standard bulb does not fit...it's too short and you can't get the replacement just anywhere...can you suggest where one can get Maytags "special" bulbs?
...now I feel just a little better.

...the difference between the bulbs are in the length of the pins. The Maytag bulb's pins are about 1/8th" longer than a standard 20watt pin appliance bulb like a Sunlite halogen #Q20Bipin.
Pins are shorter so bulb don't stay in...light not work...it almost seems intentional, and for sure an unnecessary annoyance.

Found out the part number for the bulb: 4713?001165 - Lamp, Halogen

I guess this was no longer manufactured so the most recent part is now called:

WPL-4713-001165 (which is manufactured by Samsung and I found it pretty cheap at this site:

Neither the service manual nor the parts list refer to any bulbs, so they must be standard types.

This should be a standard 20W "appliance bulb" available at grocery stores, home improvement centers (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.), hardware stores, and places like Wal-Mart...

Are there any numbers on the bulb you can share with us?

Do they look like these?

Can you post a picture of the lamp you took out of the oven?

Now you're talking about a halogen?

You need to be an electrician or mechanic to get to the light bulb in this microwave. Then good luck in trying to find a replacement. Yuck they don't tell you this before you buy.

The problem I had is that the base of the bulb was too wide for the socket. I ground down the glass edges of the bulb base and it slid right in. It did not take much, but, I had to grind down both sides. I used a diamond rasp bit in my Dremel medium speed.
My first thought was to grind down the receptica edges, but, the bulb is less expensive to replace.

The cooktop light bulb(s) is(are) located on the underside of the microwave oven, and is(are) replaceable. Remove bulb cover screw, and open the bulb cover. Replace bulb, close bulb cover, and secure with screw. Cavity light: The cavity light bulb is located behind the vent grille at the top front of the microwave oven, under the bulb cover, and is replaceable. Remove 2 screws on the vent grille, tilt the grille forward, and lift it out. Open bulb cover and replace bulb. Close bulb cover, replace vent grille, and secure with screws.

How to change the hood light

By hood light I assume that the light you want to replace shines from the bottom of the unit, not the light inside the microwave. If so check out he Disassembly video on this site: Maytag Microwave Light Bulb Not Working

Why if you put in a new light bulb the light bulb does not go on

It is because the light bulb may not be the problem to begin with. You should check the light bulb socket and related wiring and connectors for any cold solder joints.

If you have a multimeter you can check to see if there is any AC voltage going to the socket. If you don't know whast your doing then I would suggest you get someone that does. Remember your dealing with 120 volts.

good luck

Where does the light (lamp) in a Kenwood SJ SS 25 microwave go? I ordered a bulb but am unsure of how to put it in when it arrives. The booklet that came with the microwave says "don't do it...

I did not fix the problem. I ordered a bulb (lamp) and subsequently saw it is beyond my knowledge to install it. I'll communicate with the store where I bought it 3 months ago and if they won't deal with it, I'll pay a repairman to do it.

Microwave Oven Model MMV5207BA/BC

E13 is usually a bad door switch or door switch mount.

The first step is to unplug it from the power outlet for one minute, then plug it back in and try it again.

If it still fails to heat, I would check the door switches and door switch mounts.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

NOTE: There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.
