Hello, I have an acer travelmate 3210 laptop Whenever i start my laptop just after it turns off almostinstantaneously, i get the sound of the fan switching on. and the LEDwhich signifies the hard disk is being used lits on and then the wholething goes off. Nothing appears on the screen, its just the sound offan swtiching on and then off. I called up the customer care peoplethey asked me to do remove the battery and disconnect the charge andthen keep pressing the power button for a minute to drain out someexcess charge but that also is not helping. occasionally like once in 10 tries or so .. it does get switched on andworks properly but once shut down gives the same problem again. Restarting the comp doenst create this problem.
Iguess this problem started when i hard booted my comp too many timesbecause it was not reading my XP boot cd as my OS had crashed My laptop is about 2 yrs old, and not in the guarantee period. Can i get some help as to what exactly is the problem. Is there a problem with the hdd ??

Try reinstall the video drivers as it looks like an issue with the video adpater. To do so:
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> install Application & Drivers> Select the appropriate Video driver (Intel, NTI etc as per your computer spec) and install it. Restart the computer and check, the issue should be resolved. If not, then I am sorry I bet the computer needs repair.
Restart your laptop. Press ALT and F10 together continuously quickly when you see the Acer Logo at start-up. Keep pressing this combination until it says "Loading Files".
Note that you have to have the original Acer Setup and did not format the hard drive then this option will work. Also note that when you do the restore, all info on "C" Drive is lost so it would be advised to make a backup before restoring.
When asking questions, please let us know what operating system you have, that goes a long way into us helping out....thanks you. You can try to boot into safe mode first, just to see if the laptop will boot into windows period. When the acer screen first appears, tap the F8 key repeatedly until you see a multiboot minu appear, if you di, that is a good first start...now scroll to the "Safe Boot with Networking" and select it. If the laptop boots into safe mode, I suspect something must have been downloaded like a windows update that may not have installed correctly and corrupted the Startup. If you booted into safe mode, send me a message and I'll explain how to restore the system back before you had the problems. If it doesn't boot into safe mode I might be able to help with that too, but I need to know the operating system.
Acer Travelmate 3210 is the Series and in that series your Laptop model is 3212NWXMI
like Acer Aspire 5300 is series and 5320 is the model number like that.
there was no need to update Bios now in case your laptop is turning on Please try to start in the Safe mode and there you shut down your laptop properly and try Restarting in normal mode. Secondly, If you are well versed with the technology then please try to reinstall the Windows Xp
and BIOS update is something you should be very careful of. do not try unless it is MOST required
