Question about Acer TravelMate 3202XMi (LXT4806071) PC Notebook
Whenever i start my laptop just after it turns off almost
instantaneously, i get the sound of the fan switching on. and the LED
which signifies the hard disk is being used lits on and then the whole
thing goes off. Nothing appears on the screen, its just the sound of
fan swtiching on and then off. I called up the customer care people
they asked me to do remove the battery and disconnect the charge and
then keep pressing the power button for a minute to drain out some
excess charge but that also is not helping.
occasionally like once in 10 tries or so .. it does get switched on and works properly but once shut down gives the same problem again.
Restarting the comp doenst create this problem.
I guess this problem started when i hard booted my comp too many times because it was not reading my XP boot cd as my OS had crashed
My laptop is about 2 yrs old, and not in the guarantee period.
Can i get some help as to what exactly is the problem. Is there a problem with the hdd ??
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have an Acer too. Mine is a few years old as well. I personally will never buy another Acer for the issues I have had since day 1. But it doesn't sound like a HD issue to me. It sounds like you have a short in either your power button OR a problem with your power supply cord. Check for splices in the wires or near the connector box for wire seperation.
Sometimes the jack on the back (where the PS plugs in) jiggles loose and allows connection for it to turn on, but then shuts right back off again. Hope this helps some. Good luck!
