Have HP Photosmart C7200 and want to scan document to computer but there is no 'Scan to computer' choice to slect on copier scan menu as instructions direct.

I had the same problem and just found the solution.

Solution one: Make sure that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. If it is running, the DIM icon (c01404188.gif ) is present in the notification area. The notification area is located in the lower-right corner of the computer by the clock. Figure 1: Notification area c01404189.gif If the DIM icon is in the system tray, you do not need to complete this procedure. Skip to the next solution. Follow these steps to set the computer to run the DIM.
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (c01364735.gif ).
  2. In the Start Search text box, type msconfig , and then press Enter .
  3. On the User Account Control window, click Continue . The System Configuration Utility window appears.
  4. Click the Startup tab.
  5. Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box. If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. Reinstall the software to resolve this issue.
  6. Click Apply , and then click Close .
  7. Click Yes to restart the computer.
  8. Attempt the scan again.
