I would go out to Toshiba's web site and download new drivers for it. then i would go into device manager and uninstall the driver for it. after that is done then you install the new driver for the wireless card and hope that it works. it that doesn't than you might have a hardware malfunction or software conflict.

I am unable to find the switch button to turn my wireless on, is there any other way of turning the wireless on?

The switch for most toshiba satellites is on the right side of laptop. it is a small slide switch. on others It is a small circular button on the front of the unit below and to the right of where the pad is.

Ip Address 169.x.x.x Wireless Internet Connection Problems 6400/E1505 Dell Laptop

questions to ask yourself:
- I the wifi card connecting to the routers wifi network? or your next door neighbors?
- did it connect with the correct WEP? withouot the right WEP it will not communicatwith the WAP
- is the router set to be the DHCP server? this function is normally defaulted to ON

some times though windows simply has to have its TCP stack reset after having been connected to too many different networks, especially if you are a heavy wifi user.

open a command prompt: I see you already know how.

Type this command line

netsh int ip reset <anyfilenameyoulike>.txt
the txt file will be a log file tha will be placed on your main (c:) drive after the NETSH command has run

next lets reset winsock since we are here in the command line anyhow

netsh winsock reset

if everything goes right you'll be prompted to reboot you machine.

hopefully this will solve your inability to aquire an IP address from the router.

What or where are the wireless hardware keys on a panasonic CF-51

Hi Rindar,
Well this is a picture of what a Wireless Button should resemble:

If it's red it is off, if it's blue it's on..
But I can see from the picture below that the Toughbook cf-51 doesn't appear to have one in the 'normal' place:

So, maybe you can go to Control Panel and click the Intel Pro Wireless icon and run a diagnostic to tell you some more information. Since you mentioned that you have checked the device manager, I guess you'll have done this too.
So, all I can recommend is to double click on the networks connection on the bottom right hand corner of your screen and open Network and Sharing Manager, and make sure Network Discovery is enabled, then Manage Wireless Networks, and right click on your connection and click Properties, and check the 'Automatically Connect When in Range' box.
If it doesn't connect now, click on the network and press Connect now.

Hope this helps!

Check Control Panel - System - Hardware to see if you have a wireless card listed under Network Adaptor.
Click on it to see if the driver is installed ok.
Does the laptop have a switch or function key to enable the wireless?

Acer Aspire 5315

I have exactly the same problem, and Aspire 5630 with an Intel Pro wireless 3954 ABG Network Connection Network Adaptor which Device manager says is hunky dory. We need to go to the Intel website to see if they have any upgrades or other solutions. Totally fried today. DONT go to Acer, they'll be useless. Google Intel.
Best, Richard
