If you haven't allocated enough hard disk space for System Restore, it can only roll back so far. If your problem is that you just don't have any earlier restore points available, there is no way of making them appear. (other than time-travel, but i'm still working on that!) =-]

If your problem is that you have a date you want to roll back to, but it fails while trying or something... then restart, and tap F8 as it reboots until you get a black screen with some menu options. Choose "safe mode".. let it boot up (it will look strange) then try the rollback again. Should be fine!

My quick restore doesnt work for my compaq presario 2700t labtop how do i get it to work

Hi

Do you mean your system restore, sometimes the hard drive will not be able to restore your laptop to a earlier time because of file corruption.

You can try and google the problem to see if anyone else resolved this issue or you will have to save your data and re-install windows and the drivers again.

cheers

Well for some reason my laptop started downloading a update that is slowing it down and its in my hidden icons but i cant get it to come back up to cancel it so how can i get it back up to cancel it?

You can restore your laptop back to a date before the downloading a update.
Click Start Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore and select Restore my computer to an earlier time - Click Next and select the date before the update install
This should fix your problem.

A virus has been loaded onto my computer and i want to use the time machine program on it but i cant find it on my xp

When you say the time machine i would assume its the system restore. You can click start then run then type in msconfig then click on launch system restore. Although there are some viruses that are still there after a system restore. YOu can try to use free trials from 2 that I regularly use together.

Lost My Clipbook cant turn it on, cant restore CA called scvhost.exe a virus so deleted it

remove the virus with anti virus software, then go to start>programmes>accesories>system tools>system restore and choose a date before this happened, when it is restored, turn off system restore as you would have reinstalled the virus, re run the anti virus then turn system restore back on.

when booting up press F8 and select safe mode ,then remove any software you installed just before this started to happen,
