My HP Pavilion dv6915 laptop keeps shutting down randomly, and the last time it did, it erased all of my pictures and music and such. I know it's not overheating, and I've done numerous scans with an antivirus program... What do you think may be the problem?

When does it shut down? Does it boot up and allow you to do anything? If it allows you to do some things then maybe it is running hot and shuts down or a virus is shutting it down. Give us more details on when it shuts down and what was going on when it shut down.

My laptop keeps shutting off it is a hp pavillion dv6000

1- Scanning computer to eliminate malwares, spywares and the viruses from your laptop.
2- Repairing and cleaning Windows registry.
These two tips are found to be very helpful to fix the laptop shutdown problem. Almost all the computer users surf internet which could result in viruses attacking your system. Some of these infections are really pesky and cause the machines to shutdown randomly.
The registry errors, however, are the internal errors and can become a cause of system crashes and freezes. The registry keys shall be in good health to keep a system perfect.
When I noticed my laptop keeps shutting down everytime, I tested the Intel Software Partner, RegInOut to fix the random shutdown problem with my laptop.

HP Pavilion Laptop shutsdown randomly, need help.

This looks like a bad memory stick. That looks like a memory address where the error occurs. Keep track of the messages you get and see if they are similar. If it's a memory address you may run the computer for quite some time or a short time till you use enough system resourses to fill up the ram to that bad address then it will die. The confusing part is it shows the program or device that was loaded into ram that failed and sometimes you think it's that program or device rather than the ram that caused it. In this example it shows possibly 4 addresses. 40000080 8A57DAD0 89FF6F30 8A234F44
Three of those are pretty close together. If you see more that start with 8A or 8B I'm maybe right.

Hp laptop shuts itself down

Laptops are designed (by software) to shut themselves off as a protection measure. The most common problem is high temperatures. Do you hear your fan racing while you are using it? Do you sit your laptop on soft surfaces (like the bed or carpet floor) while using it? Do you smoke around your laptop while using it? These are common things that cause high temperatures on your laptop and will cause it to shut down. May not be your case but just a though. I would take it somewhere or open it up yourself(if you are pass your warranty time ONLY) and clean out the dusk with some air.

Hope this helps!
