Hey there, I think I found a reason for your CoD problems. Due to the recent impact of Hurricane Sandy, some of Activision's data centers that housed the servers for online play of Call of Duty games were hit pretty hard, and there are connection issues for online play across the board with many of Activision's titles. Only solution is to wait until the fallout from the storm is all cleaned up, and Activision gets back on track. Fast forward to about 1 minute on this video for a quick rundown on what I just explained. Hope I helped you out!
I'm staying in a hotel and have free wi-fi and wired internet but I can
not seem to get online. During the connection test the "obtain IP
address" step is successful, however the next step "internet
connection" fails. This is an unsecured network and does not require
any wpa keys , and I don't think it requires an SSID. I had no trouble
connecting my laptop. http://www.newyork-hotels.us
Upgrade to the newest firmware, since 3.0 had some freezing issues with some games, if your internet connection is slow it would also cause it to freeze up
I have had the same problem in the past all i did was sign myself out of the ps3 and signed in again, if that didnt work i dissconnected myself from the internet and connected back
Playstation3 needs reliable, stable, and quite fast internet connection. Check with your internet service provider to get better speeds and this will solve your online gaming problems
Firstly if you connect to the PSN via wireless router, the router maynot be able to cope with the BIT rate that is needed to play the game.
My suggestion is:
- That you are hard wired to the internet - i.e connected via a modem cable.
- Go to your ps3 system menu and check the internet connection.
(the PS3 will now check IP address etc and say that is enabled)
- If this is the case (which it should as you can connect to the internet browser)
- This time disconnect the modem cable and turn off the PS3 (in that order).
- Turn on the PS3.
- Carry out system check it will be unable to give a success as your not connected.
- Once complete reconnect cable and ensure that wired connection is selected.
- Carry out check again.....success should be shown.
(the reason you do this is to get both PS3 and server to communicate as if they have never met before so it sets up a new partnership)
