Sounds like you forgot to use the "safely remove hardware" function before disconnecting the card reader. Try to download the pics to your computer using the card reader again. When they're safely downloaded, format the card in your camera to get it working properly again. In the future, follow the correct procedures.

Get an inexpensive card reader and use it to download your pics to your computer. Then, format the card in the camera to erase and initialize it. It should work properly then and your pics will be safely stored on your computer. typrice_129.jpg

Unable to download pics onto computer - keep getting "USB ERROR" message. I installed the "how to" cd that came w/camera, but when I open that up the "auto download" give me...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

"CARD LOCKED"-just downloaded pictures from memory

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

It's easy enough for the switch to get moved accidentally, especially when inserting it into a card reader or a camera.

Lost Pics

Memory card error is common problems in various sd cards and cf cards. I took a closer look at my little SD memory card. It has a sliding lock on it to protect data. Check to see if the card works when you slide that lock up or down. Read more about memory card:

Downloading pics to memory card

a virus is present in your pc, infecting the memory card. I suggest that whenever your card leaves the camera and used in any computer or lab, always format the card in your camera not in pc cause this will gonna erase all the pictures including the virus. virus in cf cards wont destroy your camera but it will make it operates like crazy. Make it a standard operating procedure to always format card inside the camera.
Photolab will be able to read even a corrupted card.
