If the flashing amber light doesn't go away, you've got a drive telling you it doesn't feel very well and should be replaced. This is covered in the pre-failure warranty and just place a call to Service to get it replaced.

Dell Power Edge 2900 - amber and Red A light on tape Drive

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. May also be a defective card inserted into your motherboard. Try isolating the problem by removing all components until you just have motherboard and power supply and see if it turns on.

Yellow light shows in hdd of server

This means that HDD is faulty . You can confirm it by re fixing the hard drive .
Shutdown computer > Remove HDD > wait 1 min and Insert it > Start computer .
If you get any of the below status
Steady Amber (Orange Led) = Drive is Faulty
Amber Blinking = Hdd rebuilding

If orange led blinks , it means hdd is in rebuilding state. Wait for sometime and check if it come online . On the other hand (Steady Amber) its time to replace HDD

Good Luck

Not detecting hdd

Since you didn't specify the server model i can't point to the exact solution.

Normally this can occur if

1: Motherboard issue ( Plannar)
2: Memory Issue
3: Raid controller issue

Check orange amber lights on front panel.
If you find ,
1: Remove memory and raid re-fix it . Make sure the memory has no problem .
2: Refix raid controller .

Now check

Besides remove the raid c

X3650- 7979 hot-swap SATA HDDs are not working.

Welcome to fixya

Please refix the HDD if RAID is cofigured on server. Check if it blinks . If it starts blink then its rebuilding. If it gives steadyOrange amber then it shows hdd is bad and you will have to replace.

Before that please login to the raid controller ( Press the key it says soon after controller booting )
From controller we can confirm whether a hdd is faulty or not .
