I have a spare Seagate ST3160215ACE hard drive and want to use it for desktop external storage. Please advise if it is suitable and what connectors/cables are required to fit into enclosure.

You need an USB hard drive adapter case that supports IDE ATA data connection.
The hard drive fits inside the adapter case and does not require a connecting cable. The adapter case should be supplied with an USB cable.

Usb program cable wont install on computer

Hi,

You've not supplied enough info, usb cable won't install on computer could be misunderstood.

But if what you mean is that the usb cable is the wrong size to the usb hub on your computer, then that makes sense.

There are currently three or four types of usb and sizes, two of which are PC types, these being usb version 2.0, and usb version 3.0, one is smaller than the other, the latter being smaller.

If you have a PC built after 2006, you should have both versions, but if your PC is older, then you'll only have version 2.0, and that could be the reason for the problem.

However, if I've misunderstood your query, then I'm sorry, but you need to give detailed info as to the problem, so that I can understand what it is you're trying to say, otherwise confusion reigns.

I hope I have been of some help.

Regards,
Peter

Lexmark X2470,all in one.what usb is required,as it is not supplied

Printer conncection cables are not always included; this is something to watch for when purchasing new printers.

Lexmark sells a USB (2meter) cable for use with their printers. It has a Type A connector on one end (connects to computer) and a Type B connector on the other end (connects to printer).

See here:

http://www.lexmarkshop.ca/product_info.php/info/p547_USB--2-Meter--Cable.html?XTCsid=8uf9jfg007037lui6nbrrvkko5

You should however be able to purchase a suitable cable at your local supplier; there are also on-line suppliers who are very reasonably priced.

Try to stay under 10 feet or 2 meters in length as ask for a cable with a Type A and and a Type B connector for use with an USB printer interface.

Trust this is helpful. Please vote.

I got a GR-DVL820u digital video camera. I wanted to transfer the videos to the PC and burn the CDs. I was supplied with only A/V cable but not the firewire cable which will connect the camera with my PC....

Firewire DV and USB are two different type of cable. This camera offers both, but the USB connection is only used to transfer still photos, not video. Most PCs don't have a socket for a Firewire DV connection, but you can install a Firewire add-on board in one of the PC bus slots. Then you need a Firewire cable with a small connector on the camera end and a bigger connector on the PC end.

You can download a manual from

this link

and also order cables, but they should be available in any camera shop.

Installing software for my Sony Handycam DCR-HC96

Option 1:

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer.

Refer this Link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

Option 2:

(Applicable for Windows XP Operating System only):

If you are using a Windows XP Operating System then you have to install the USB Streaming Driver in the Computer from the supplied Software disk with the Computer.

Check this Link for the instruction to transfer video to a Computer using USB Streaming.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C222820

If you do not have the supplied Software disk then I suggest that you use the i.LINK cable to transfer the video.

Or you can purchase the software disk from this link:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/productSearch.do?searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=266675501

NOTE: Since the original supplied software is not available for free download now.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your Camcorder does not supports a Wireless MIC. However, you can use a MIC with your Camcorder using the available Accessories Shoe port.
