Hp deskjet 1220c It only prints in red. I thought it was that the black cartridge was empty so I changed it. But the problem persists Any ideas?

If the printer has not been used for awhile, ink may have dried on the heads. Try cleaning the heads a few times. Then see if you can print solid blocks of each color. If they show up but have lines in them the heads will need to be cleaned again until they show solid.

Printer does not print/ink residue in printheads cleaning compartment..how should i troubleshoot please

The 1220c is old technology. Sometimes you can remove the cleaning compartment, by disassembling the printer, and thoroughly clean it with plain water and it will start working. This is just a temporary fix though and it will need to be replaced soon.

The ink carrage keeps slamming the the left over and over.

Clean the semi clear strip that runs from right to left and goes through the carriage. This tells the carriage position by a very fine amount of lines. If cleaning the strip does not work then attempt to clean the reader unit on the carriage. Just use a qtip/cotton bud slightly moistened in metholated spirits or light cleaner like windex. If your printer does'nt have a strip like I explain then it's likely a switch at the end of the carriage runner.
Hope this helps

The ink well is full and leaking. How do I clean it out.

There is an ink well below the home run position of the print head and cartridge assembly. If you open the lid of the printer, the print head moves to the center of the rail. You then unplug the printer and gently move the print head to the left and out of the way. If you shine a flashlight in the right hand corner or home run position, you will see the ink well. You can clean it out with a paper towel or a syringe. Obviously, the well is no longer overflowing and the drip should stop.

HP designjet 430, the data and media light come on at power up

The sad part unfortunatly is that the sensor on the carrage is below minimum specification. The only solution is to change the carrage as a unit P/N C4713-60039 and its going to be expensive. Normally the carrage belt would be replaced at the same time.

HP 755 CM CARTRIDGE MISSING ERROR

This normally points to a worn ribbon on the carrage. Make sure the ribbon where the cartrige makes contact is really clean, if cleaning make sure the plotter is turned off. Sometimes a build up of ink can cause problems. The bad news is that if the ribbon on the carrage is worn it firstly comes with the carrage as a unit, and secondally the carrage is no longer available from HP

HP 1220c problem

Did you try both cartridges? Sometimes a fried circuit on the color cartridge will cause a out of ink on the black even when the black is new. Double check that you are using the correct cartridge for the printer. and look at the copper/gold contacts in the printer where the cartridge goes. look for dried ink or tears. Clean with a Q-tip dipped in water. CAREFULLY. If it's torn.... enjoy your trip to walmart.
