Hitachi 50v500 turns off spontaneously. Set can be immediately turned back on. Any idea why it turns itself off?

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have basic electronic knowledge and know how to remove and reinstall the current bulb. I will try removing and reseating the current bulb.I do have a new bulb but have not installed it.

Is this a symptom of a failing bulb? I have been waiting for it to fail but so far it seems to be working fine until this spontaneous turn off issue.

This can be a problem with the bulb of the unit that need to be tighten or needs a replacement, if you have any knowledge in electronics you can open the unit and check it, but if not better take it to a repair center near you and have it check..

Good luck......

Hitachi 50v500 lcd rear projection just trying to get the setup so cable works on ant a can't make the channel move when im on ant a set up.

be aware this model has almost a 100% failure rate on the light engine which while not related to this issue should be kept in mind.

If you have cable get a box with a/v jacks on the back and hook to a rear input on the set--bypass the whole issue and get a better picture.

PS: I don't think it is the set itself causing this ........

Hitachi 50V500. The fan will not turn off.

the transistor that controls the fan has shorted out and needs to be replaced, follow the wiring down from the fan to the pc board and trace the connection from the plug to the transistor, and replace,,,good to go, let me know how that worked

shanerickp, how many flashes before the picture comes back? that could be your code for a lamp replacement. check your owners manual for that.

We bought our Hitachi 50" tv in 2004. Recently it had a blue cloud and finally the lamp went out. We replaced it after ordering the part from Hitachi. This has been only a few weeks ago. The blue cloud is...

id guess your set is like a 50v500 or 50v720 its a lcd rear projection
the blue cloud come from a warped lcd plate in the optic engine and would require replacment to correct this problem
if you have a extended warranty you would want to contact them
if not you might contact hitachi consumer affairs and ask them if there would be any assistance with this repair
