No sound devices on my sony vaio VGN-CR322H laptop
I have recently downgraded from Windows Vista by installing Windows XP sp2 on it. Now there is no sound, it says "no sound devices can be found", the sound was working on Vista before. I have downloaded all the Audio drivers from the Sony support site and installed them, but still not working. Do you have any ideas?

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

You can install windows XP, but you will need to find the drivers to your soundcard, dvd driver etc.. for it to work properly as new. After installing XP you can get them here at the Sony website. Install each driver and make sure it was configured properly.
The graphics circuitry is integrated into the motherboard in a laptop and you can't install a different card. If you are looking for a way to improve graphic performance, your only option is to download the latest video drivers from either the computer manufacturer or video chipset makers' websites, and see if any new capabilities have been added.
Actually drivers are needed for that ,check your device manager for any yellow icon...if you find any yellow icon that means there is a drivers issue and it might be the reason that your audio buttons are not working or keyboard ....
Ya definitely if you are uncomfortable with vista you can install xp ,its good ,i too use xp .but i have installed both operating system xp and vista ....so if you want to install xp go for it..you can also install vista after you have installed xp .but it is not possible to install xp after vista ...so first install xp and than vista only if you want...........and if you need any help after installing xp let me know... _____________________________________________________ Low

Sorry to inform you but you cant downgrade from vista to xp on this model I have found most systems that are designed to run vista lose several drivers when downgraded to xp.
the only solution that will restore drivers would be to reload vista by purchasing an upgrade version of vista (this allows an upgrade from xp to vista and will restore drivers only catch is your xp operating system must be xp home with sp2(service pack 2).
When you removed vista from your machine you actually downgraded by replacing the vista operating system with XP.
