The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore
Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with iPod shuffle. Try
these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved. If one of the following doesn’t
help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
â Reset iPod shuffle by turning it off, waiting five seconds, and then turning it back on
â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod shuffle in iTunes.

heya. i had the same problem with mine,after installing factory software.I deleted the sotfware and just connecteted the mp3 player without software to the pc. Pc then founded as new hardware and gave me a choice of sync to Windows Media Player or Winamp,i chose Winamp and there it went no problems with uploading music.but i can't figure out how to delete music.Hope that works for you.
1. Reset the ipod using the utility 2. Run itunes application to create profile : after you have reset the Ipod just start itunes and it will ask you to provide a profile name, just provide any name and select okay.
I had the same issue, got it sorted using the windows utility.
