Hi.

DO NOT USE THIS FAN. disconnect if possible.

any spark, smoke and popping noises from any electrical items MUST be treated as highly suspect and a possible fire risk, until professionally tested and given the all clear.

it may just be a few bits of dust burning off, but it MUST be checked before you can assume it is safe.
sparks and smoke with a little dust or grease can cause a fire.

i AM trying to frighten you into doing something rapidly, as this could be a serious fire risk, and must be considered dangerous until tested and proven to be safe.
i would not be doing my job responsibly if i did not make this point absolutely clear

Westinghouse 3speed fan switch 77288

It's the westinghouse switch. Many results on search. I just wasted 2 hours playing switching wires all combos. Others suggested the switch from Lowe's. Harbor breeze #0033905 . Plug wires back in as you listed Black L, Grey 1, Brown 2, Purple 3. Works perfectly for $3.98 plus tax.

Others said you can call Hampton Bay and get the replacement also.

We have had a Hampton Bay Renaissance II model # 129857 installed for about 5 years. Suddenly, the light fixture popped, and a new light kit is needed-is it worth searching for a new light kit, or should...

we had a similar problem happen with our Hampton Bay Renaissance fan. It turns out that the warranty does not cover this by the way. The lifetime warranty you refer to is only on the fan motor. This is common with most fan manufacturers- just wanted to let you know about this because I think your interpretation of the warranty is wrong.

This fan is really hard to find and so are the parts for it. I would recommend trying to call Home Depot where you bought it or call the Hampton Bay customer support phone number. You're likely going to have to go through one of those mediums. I feel that the second thing (calling technical support for Hampton Bay) will probably connect you to Home Depot too because Hampton Bay is a house brand of Home Depot.

We were able to find the phone numbers we needed here:

i have the same problem, bought five different screws from five different hardware stores including home depot, lowes, ace and mom an pops. Nothing seems to fit and hampton bay's website is a joke. And my fan is only about 3-4 years old. Hate to throw a perfectly good fan away over somethin as petty as this but.... looks like we're gonna have to bite the bullet bro. 70 bucks down the drain over 2 dollars screws. Wont be dealing with hampton bay anymore.

Capacitor

Hi,
The best place to find that is back at Home Depot...you may be able to match it up at a local electrical supply house, but usually they are a forgien made cap and are not readily accessible to the consumer in the states...

Bulbs burning out in Hampton Bay ceiling fan

I would suggest getting an electrician to check the current running through the wiring. I had installed a similar fan in my grandmother's house a couple of years ago and had the same problem. After a couple of months of constantly changing bulbs, I brought in an electrician to check the current and found that there was a short in the wire which kept causing just enough of a current surge to blow the bulbs.
