Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Maxent MX-50x3 50 inch plasma. built may 2006, bought at best buy in april 2007. Allways has occasional red pixels randomly when switching inputs. Now we have vertical red lines and pixels and sometimes blue vert. lines and pixels. Resolution has degraded significantly. Has horizontal and vertical lines when playing. (Blurred picture.) I have read of other owners with very similar issues. How do I find a reputble repair shop and would it be reliable afterward, I have heard bad things about plasma screens. It has always ran very warm/hot but does not have a cooling fan I can find or hear.

If you take the back cover off the tv, you will see in a white screw in almost every board, those are called pot. (potentiometer).
if you can get to meter the Ve. Vs. and Vset. start to screw or unscrew those white screw according to what the label says.
usually the ones who gives you the blue and red dots are the white screw on the right of the center panel, and the one on the right of the right panel right under the metal thing to hang on the wall.

The Samsung LN40B540P8F I would rate a 9. Only God is 10.

All the DLP sets, you can throw out

All the Older Projection sets you can throw out

I would take the rest for scrap parts.

I hope this is helpful.

I just purchased a 32 inch maxent plasma that was supposed to be gauranteed to not be dead on arrival. When i recieved the tv it did not turn on. I contacted the seller and he says that the blacklights...

The TV is not a plasma, it is an LCD. Send it back to the seller ASAP. His add is misleading and deceptive. LCD TV`s are back lit with fluorescent lamps. They are powered by ballast transformers usually located on the inverter board. My guess is that parts are not available that's why he is dumping the set. Stick with name brand Japaneese products only and stay away from no named made in China junk. Hope you get your money back. Good luck!

Philips 42PF9945 on/off switch problems

Hi huttleywoof,

I've had the same problem 1 week ago. Bought new wirewound ceramic resistors (5w 6.8 ohms) and replaced the old ones.... It helped to majority of people who had the same problem, but mine has now some other issues with appearing diffrent colors on the screen which are not supposed to be there :) Like all goes blask with few red pixels or green :-) Having fun now and can;t find service manuals for this TV :(

Plasma tv has developed a black stripe in the upper lefthand corner, about one foot long and one inch wide.

This could be a bad thing, hopfuly only a driver board has failed and need replacment , Now for the worse case, the panel has failed. If thats the case it almost allways cost more to replace the panel than to replace the set

Replaced lamp. 5 blinks, does not start

for solution #2, guest, you are a tool. If you have a problem like this on a similar tv, you would know that it is nothing but a money pit. We dropped anywhere from $1500 to $3000 on a tv to begin with that only lasts a year, if that. Then it's a series of random problems that are practically impossible to diagnose and or fix without dumping at least another grand into it. We're not cheap, we're just tapped the F**K out, and pissed! If you don't have somehting constructive to add to this board, take a long walk off a short pier.
