Question about Air Conditioners

1 Answer

We have a well. It always gave us clear water until the pump broke. Mt husband replaced the pump and ever since the water is brown, rusty dirty. He let water flow out with a garden hose for several days, the problem still exists. Do you think it is the pipes, pump, or are there chemicals to put in the well to clear the problem? Do you have any solutions we could perhaps try? Thank you

Sounds to me like the pump is disturbing the sediment in the bottom of the well when it energizes. You could try placing the pump in perferated sleeve if it is a deep well pump. Or maybe a 5 gallon bucket with perferations cut in it, in case it will not fit in a sleeve.

How to fix air conditioner causing a lot of Water pools

Air conditioners and high-efficiency combustion furnaces create significant condensation, which exits through a plastic drain tube. This should go into a floor drain or be carried away by a small “condensate pump.” If water is pooling at the base of the appliance, something may be blocking the water's flow, or leaking, or the pump may not be working.
1) Look to see if one of the tubes is leaking. If it is, replace it.
2) Test the condensate pump by pouring water into its pan. If the pump doesn't start, either it isn't receiving power or it is broken. Be sure that it's plugged in and test the circuit. If it's broken, either get it repaired or replace it.
3) If the pump runs but doesn't empty the pan, the ball-like check valve just before the discharge tube is probably stuck. Unscrew the check valve, loosen the ball inside, and look for an obstruction. If it appears that a condensation drain tube is clogged with algae, remove it if possible (you may have to cut it and replace it later with a coupling). Run a wire through it to clear it. To kill the algae, pour a dilute solution of bleach (1 part bleach to 16 parts water) through the pipe.
4) Ice may be blocking the tube. If this is the case, be sure the filter isn't dirty. If the filter appears to be fine, the air conditioner's refrigerant supply is probably low. This is when it's time to call an air-conditioning technician.

You may have a dirty/rusty burner that is clogged or your gas valve
manifold pressure setting may be too low. Normal manifold pressure
is 3.5 inches water column on natural gas furnaces. ( 1 psig is equivalent to 28 inches water column). Pull and clean burner. Also
check and clean pilot assy. including flame sensor (if present).
Please let me know.

Trying to install a fan motor for my outside ac unit replacement motor has 5 wires on it. my old on had only 3 driving me nuts

Your old moter had three wires. Common High and brown for capacitor. This one sounds like a two speed. Dont worry Now you have two brown wires for you capacitor instead of one. Tape off brown wire with white strip. Connect other brown to cap. You should have a white or yellow for common wire and black for high. Tape of the other extra wire and wire in like the three wire. I think this is a double problem post,so I will answer the top first.
The fan capacitor may be bad or the motor it's self is seizing up and will need replaced.

Second portion of post:
  1. Brown and brown/white go to the new capacitor(If you didn't get a new one with the motor,You will need to)Should be 7.5 mfd
  2. Black To the contactor where the black was originally connected
  3. yellow to the contactor where the red was originally connected

Rusty water -

With the right tools and elbow grease its not that big of a deal.

Most folks try tackling it with chanel locks and a pair of pliers. without the right tools, it can be a challenge.

You may have an hours work, and less than 30 bucks in the job.

A new heater will run you 350 bucks easy.
