Question about Toshiba TZ50V61 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Problem Someone gave me a 50 in Toshiba TZ5061 Projection TV, it worked fine for him but I got it home, plugged it up and it stays on for about 10 seconds and powers off and the red power light just flashes. I try another outlet with the same results. What could be the problem?

Same thing. . .tv just went black, "power on" indicator light flashes. Unplugged, replugged. . .nothing. Are these tv's worth fixing? Really like to picture and dimensions. It's 9 yrs. old. Didn't really get used much until the last 2 years.

Hi,
It is clear symptom that lamp is near to end of its wroking life and tv needs lamp replacement.
Please replace lamp in tv to get it back in business. Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual and its easy.
Please buy Sony original lamp for good picture.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

this might be a tube leak check for fluid on the necks of the tubes with your hand. if none you might have a faulty protect chip- common-
forgot the exact location but it's on the main board, it's a 16 pin chip as i remember and it is a quad op amp. if you hold your finger across the pins underside it will turn on and stay on as long as your finger is there, if so replace the chip
