Check your speaker cables for short circuit cable---or the bare wire of cable touch amplifier body----short circuit of cables close to each other---------bad input cable----or defective input device-----.
disconnect all things and check then connect it again one by one from input to output until you find the bad one.

If the display shows overload, you are playing it too loud, or have too many speakers connected. Overload is a protection method used to shut down the unit, before it's damaged.

NAD M3 power light turns red immediately and PROTECT message displays. Amp keeps functioning but volume control doesn't work up or down.

Hello
Check the connection to speaker with this amp, for any short or any other fault. disconnect the outputs, ie, speakers from the amp, and switch it On, and see the protect display comes or not. If it comes, the fault is internal and the set need service.
Your M3 dual Mono integrated amp, is of high output power and its outputs are protected against any overload or short circuit. If the system detect any among this condition specified above, it will show protect mode display.
Never load this amp, as protection display is there, as it may damage the speaker or its internal power amplifier section circuits, may cause more money to get it repaired. OK.

Power led on but no output

Try to trace the fault systematically from one end of the system to another, starting with something that you know is working
  1. Start by checking your sound source (cd player or whatever) is working by connecting it to another amplifier or computer.
  2. Check the connecting cable is working from the sound source to the amp and is not shorted out.
  3. Make sure your loud speakers actually work (briefly shorting a 1.5 volt AAA battery across the speaker terminals should produce a crackling sound without doing any damage)
  4. Check loudspeaker cables are properly connected to output connectors and are making a good contact.
  5. Try connecting something like your computer speakers (or use the microphone in jack on the computer itself) to the line output socket of the Jamo. If you can get some sound this way it would suggest that the internal output overload protection fuse may have blown. You will need to open the case to access this. NOTE if your JAMO is still in warranty take to authorised repairer otherwise you may invalidate your warranty.

Bad transistor .....the amp heats up fast but will continue to work if i can get it to cool down. everything points to a bad transistor but how do i determine which transistor it is?

Hello,
The problem is not bad transistor.
the problem is dirt, try to clean dirt in the internal of the amplifier especially the front section that has a foam attached to it.
this should be done by removing the cover of the amplifier.
Also do not overload the amplifier, check its ampere, watt and ohms to ensure balance of the amplifier and the speaker....

1 You may have a failing power supply regulating circuit in you amplifier and the fail safe circuit is trying to protect the rest of the circuit.
2. there may be a voltage overload at the primary side of the power supply circuit which in this case is causing it to shut down.

My amp states overload protection and no sound from both front speakers but all other speakers are working

Unplug speakers. Try headphones - are they working? Are speakers correct impedance? If it says 8-OHMs output, are you using 2-OHM or 4-OHM speakers, if so, not good. Sound like wrong impedance speakers or a short in the speaker wiring/connector.

Make sure speakers are hooked to proper connectors. Also check speaker switch "A"/ "B"/ "A+B" is positioned to correct speakers.
Also make sure mute switch is off

Marantz SR5600 receiver troubleshooting.

Ya, it sound like you just blowed the output on one of the stages, I would disconect the speakers to see if the problem still is there, second open the top cover, there should be about 7 fuses check for a blowed one, last hope it's not an output, if you never worked on an amp, you will cause more problem.
Hope this help

You must find on your setup menu the word `Surround', it may be `5.1 Surround'. Not `Stereo'(S ?).
