Crema attachment Just curious - is the "perfect crema" attachment supposed to be included or an optional purchase.

It is optional, if your coffee is fresh, you would not need the attachment. If your coffee isn;t the freshest, the attachment comes in handy to create the crema affect

Dispenses very little CREMA. Is there something to adjust?

Rule of thumb - espresso machines deliver a shot of coffee in 25 to 35 seconds.

If there is no crema and the coffee comes faster:
  1. There is not enough coffee in the portafilter (7 grams per shot).
  2. The coffee is not tamped enough (about 30 lb pressure on the tanmper handle).
  3. The grind is too coarse.
If the above does not "fix" the crema problem, post again and include make and model of the machine and type of portafilter.

Good luck.

When I pull a shot on my Breville BES900XL Dual Boiler espresso machine the coffee sprays sideways out of the portafilter instead of down into the cup. It is coming out in the correct place it just seems...

I have the same problem. Machine is brand new, and no faulty or cracked parts. Seems it is a pressure issue, but I don't see a way to reduce the pump power in the manual. Please let me know if this was ever solved.

New machine but no crema.. very disappointed

I have the same machine with excellent crema. You need to be sure you are using a high quality burr grinder on the fine setting. Also be sure to tamp using a tamper for even compression. The espresso should come out SLOWLY and smoothly... it will end with a great crema.

Virtually no crema :-((

If you have tried different coffees and grinds then i would try different packing methods using a tamper to do so. Try packing very firmly to not so firmly and see if that works. Also you might find that you need a new double filter basket. I have seen this in quite a few machines where the holes in the basket can become very slighty enlarged from what they were originally and what this does is allows the coffee to flow through the basket too quickly and therefore leaving you with poor crema by not getting a good extract from the coffee. I hope this helps.

All the best

Saeco Gran Crema Espresso does not pump water

The machine needs to be primes.
Please trie and release hot water though the steam nossle.
Do like this
Open the steamer and then trie and make a cup of coffe. this will make the hot water come out thought the steamer instead of the coffe outlet.
Why you should do this is becuse the machine has it alot more easier to prime it self though the steamer then the coffe outlet.

A card included in the operating manual indicates that this is normal. The Breville "Dual Wall Crema System" will do this. Visit www.breville.com for more information.

Sempre Crema

before changing the filter, try cleaning it following the instructions in the manual(page 9, i'll attach it to my post). The Delonghi web site also offers the following solution: "The coffee may have been ground too coarsely or the grounds may not have been pressed with a tamper. Also check to make sure that the coffee is not old or stale." Parts are supposed to be available from the delonghi website(www.delonghi.com), but i couldn't find where they hid it. but there's an option on the site to go to local sevice centers, lets say you live in canada, then you pick the canadian website from the pull down menu on the top, the customer support tab, then service center on the left. Good luck
