this manual will show you how to password protect it. you will need to be hard wired to do this. delete all the people on your list that you dont actively use. and You can change the channel but password protect it first you may not need to change it. As always keep the same 2.4 ghz phones bases away from the router and microwaves and so on.

Linksys router unidentified network....receiving full signals but showing unidentified network ...i hv checked SSID and key both are correctly entered....

Try resetting the router and then configure it again.
To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

How to connect my Linksys router with my wi tribe modem?? my laptop pick up the wireless signal and can connect,,it says "connected" but when you open a page it says either "invalid server...

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

Unable to stream novie sites with my linksys wireless-g router

Check the connection (signal) strength of your wireless connection in the status area of the task bar in Windows. Also, hovering the mouse over the wireless connection should reveal the connection speed. 54mbps is the highest you can expect on a wireless connection, which is generally OK for streaming video..Any less of a signal strength/connect speed will likely not be adequate for streaming video.

A poor signal strength is usually because of too much distance or too many walls between the router and the computer.

Hope that's helpful.

My router suddenly gets a poor signal. It is a

Locate at the router's management page the Basic Wireless settings. At this section locate the line displaying "wireless channel" and change it at any channel you like, your connected devices will auto locate the new channel and connect without any problem. This happens from time to time, especially when a strong wireless transmitter is (or comes) near the Wi-Fi area (maybe a wireless phone is your problem or something like that).

Take care that in case you make a change at another setting, your connected devices may not locate the new setting, so you will have to connect to the router using the ethernet connection in order to recover your problem.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Low signal strength

Having many users connected to a single WAP (wireless access point) will not affect the signal strength. It will however, affect the speeds each user is capable of.

Most Linksys routers have a homepage address of 192.168.1.1 - Enter this in your web browser.

From there you will be able to find wireless settings and enable either a password or a WEP key for security.

Range is very poor

You need to change the wireless channel of the router. Access the router's setup page through http://192.168.1.1, no username, password is admin. Go to wireless tab, Select Manual Setup, change the Radio band from auto to Wide Range. Also change the Wireless network name to a different name then click on save settings at the bottom. Power cycle the router, unplug it for about 30 sec then plug it back in.

Would a neighbors linksys router interfere with my belkin connection?

do check the signal strength of the wireless connection..you can improve signal by removing any big objects between the compu and the router/access point and/or re positioning the router.also intervening walls will affect signal..the fact that you are getting a linksys signal impilies that your home network signal is weak..hope it helps!
