Question about Dishwashers
I am renting a house and we just got a ge dishwasher. It overheated to the point where it caught a plastic cup on fire. Now my landlord told me it was caused by the cup. Well common sense tells me there are causes and effects. He tried to tell me that there is a thermocouple in it and it shut the pump off. Wrong that would be the motor overloads. The thermocouple/thermostat is what controls things that have to do with heat so the thermostat would have shut off the heating element so I would say there is a problem with the thermostat. In my situation and probably in yours. good luck though

Is it the wash or rinse? in either case there are two temperature probes in the tanks check to see if they are dirty if not then you may have control board problems. if you are not familiar with this type of equipment then you should probrably call a service company.
