Question about Creative Labs Zen MicroPhoto MP3 Player

1 Answer

Hardware Problem The other night I was updating the firmware when at the very end of the update when the player was supposed to reboot the message "Hardware Problem" appeared. Now the MP3 player won't work at all - not even to turn it off. The only way to turn it off is to remove the battery however it still won't work. My computer doesn't even recognize the device. Anyone else ever come across this??

Hello,

Your Zen very likely needs to have the motherboard replaced, as it is now fried. I have seen this happen a LOT.

Does the hard drive still spin? After powering it on, put it up to your ear to listen. If there is no noise at all, or a smooth and steady spinning sound, that indicates your hard drive is fine and your motherboard has failed. If you hear clicking noises that keep repeating, this indicates hard drive failure.

Firmware update for LG bp125 gone bad

I ran into issues updating my BP125 to the LG_BD_7300M51.ROM firmware with a USB drive but was able to work around them. I think they occur because the BP125 expects the firmware to be in the upg_all subdirectory during part of the update. To successfully update, it needs to be in upg_all on the USB drive. If you update with LG_BD_7300M51.ROM firmware file in the root directory, the Bluray drive won't complete booting but a workaround can restore the Bluray drive. Here are the steps I took:

First, I tried to update with the LG_BD_7300M51.ROM file in the root directory on a USB drive. The update found the firmware, started the update, then powered off. I powered the Bluray player back on, and it said the update had failed and gave me an option to update using USB or Network. Neither worked with the LG_BD_7300M51.ROM file.

Second, I downloaded the BP120 LG_BD_7200M51.ROM firmware file, renamed it to LG_BD_7300M51.ROM, and put it in the root directory. The Bluray player found the firmware file, and I updated to it. That put the BP120 firmware on the BP125.

To update to the BP125 firmware, I renamed the LG_BD_7300M51.ROM file to LG_BD_7200M51.ROM and put it in the upg_all directory on the USB drive. The Bluray player then saw the update. I applied it successfully to get to the latest BP125 firmware.

Stuck on pause

Do you still have warranty on the player? this seems to me like a hardware fault.

I suppose you can try the recovery tool on it.

Try updating the units Firmware:
Firmware is software that exists usually on chip or flash memory within a larger piece of hardware, such as a Blu-ray player. Firmware can be upgraded to fix a technical problem with the player or to meet new industry standards.Firmware updates can be applied either by downloading them directly to your device, or by disc installation.

Rolling back firmware

Cardinal Rule ....1
NEVER update any FIRMWARE.....

Cardinal Rule ...2
if in doubt refer to rule 1

You CANNOT rollback firmwares once loaded, Firmwares are programs written within a CHIP inside the hardware.
You can rollback Drivers and update them also, but Firmwares are not of the same nature.

for example if you have a MP3 player that has a specific Firmware, the firmware is specifically programed to run that hardware(MP3 player), once you change the firmware the hardware will not be able to recognize the firmware and viceversa.

PC WON'T RECOGNIZE MY OPAL RCA M4208RD-8

I got help from someone on this site that helped me fix my player. What you need to do (or what I did) is delete all of the RCA files from your computer completely. Then download the firmware upgrade from the RCA website (www.rcaaudiovideo.com) Once you finish that download, make sure that the player is not connected to your computer. Begin to press both the "Play" and the volume + buttons at the same time and then plug it into your computer. Then start the firmware updater at the same time; eventually, your computer will see that your player is there and that is basically all that I did.

HTC Touch Diamond problems with Manila.exe, Shell32.exe, reboot

May be this is because of using older ROM's i.e firmware..

Goto HTC site and find the updated ROM for ur device..

Current version of ROM's may have fix for ur problems...

Take backup of ur data before updating the firmware....

Thanks,

Zen Sleek not recognized by firmware: not connected msg

Make sure you have media player 11
If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
Download recovery tool off creative's website.
go to my computer > click on hardware tab >
click on device manager button > in the is next screen on the bottom should have>>universal serial bus controllers
(write these down just in case it cant find them)
right click on them and uninstall
reboot let windows reinstall them

Also told Microsoft hotfix causes this problem try uninstalling the last hotfix
If that doesn't fix it try the USB cable

good luck
please mark the post with a fixya

Cannot reload firmware

I had the Exact same problem and no one had a good solution, i only found one that finally worked after spending 4 freakin hours tryin to fix it. anyway here is the solution.

you need to use a computer that has Windows XP, then if the computer is running any version of Windows media player other than 10, roll back or upgrade to Media player 10. restart the computer.

Now, you need to download and run http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=462 honestly i have no idea what it does. my guess is it reinstalles the USB ports but thats only a guess. but i was so frusterated by the time i found this solution that i was willing to try anything. so download this file, unpack it and run it. then it will ask you to restart. when your computer is restarted run the new firmware file ( i used 1.62.2.0) and it works.

Why? i have no idea, but it i was pumped. the origional site i got this solution from is http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18864

How do I f/w update??????

Here's the site with the firmware upgrade download: http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select.aspx?type=Digital+Audio+Player(YEPP)&typecode=200600&subtype=Yepp&subtypecode=200601&model=YP-U2JQB/XAA&filetype=FM&language= although I'm sure that the f/w updater is within this program here: http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select.aspx?type=Digital+Audio+Player(YEPP)&typecode=200600&subtype=Yepp&subtypecode=200601&model=YP-U2JQB/XAA&filetype=SW&language= That should help you with your problem. First download and install the first link, then use the tools that are within that program. Once finished, update it with the firmware update and you should be alright.
