Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

While printing photos I noticed that in all of them you see faint lines across the entire photo. I thought it was my camera. So I printed some pictures that someone sent me-same problem with the lines. I even tried different paper. This is a new problem and I don't know how to fix it.

I have used my guide book and done all the cleaning, adjusting printing out trial pages and everything it said to do. However when I print out pictures on gloss paper I still have lines through out the picture. Help

I am using a Canon i550 printer that I purchased in 03. I have aligned paper, printed out print sheets to make sure I have all my inks working, cleaned nozzels and so forth still I get lines. I am using ink that I purchased from 123 inkjets which is replacement ink. I've used this before and not had a problem

I cleaned the nozzles another four times. I ran the 100 sheets through on word. The lines are still there. So I guess I will have to take it to Best Buy where I purchased it and have a Geek fix it. Thank you for your help.

You should clean the print heads. You can find this in the print menu under "maintenance"

After cleaning the print heads, you should also do an alignment which should also be in the maintenance section for your printer.

What type of printer are you using? Brand and model number are helpful.

Go to printer tools on start menu and perform a head nozzle cleaning procedure.

If line is vertical color line then you are in following case.
If printer is an inkjet this happens when printer head or another printer part, traction wheels for example, is dirty with ink.
First go to printer tools under programs and find head/nozzle cleaning procedure.
On lasers problem is similar but machine it is dirty with toner, not ink, and there is no printhead.
Repeat cleaning procedure a couple of times.
If it does not work you can try fixing the problem with the following trick:

Open your word processor (MS Word, Wordpad etc), and create a blank document, just a blank page with no text.
Put 100 sheets and print 100 copies of so of the blank document.
    That will clean the printer.

If it did not fixed it then the printer must be taken apart and cleaned, this is a job for a technician.
In this last case, check guaranty, call phone number printed on user manual, or locate a repair shop in your area.

If lines are horizontal or are lines with no ink, then it is usually a mechanic traction problem that must be fixed by a repairman.

Printed page gets horizontal lines

you may need a new camera, digital cameras with the iris not functioning properly will have lines horizontally across them.
Not always noticeable until larger photos are viewed or printed.
Or you may need a new printer.

When I print out photos, there are faint yellow bands across the bottom of the picture. It doesn't happen when I print other documents on the printer, so i think its the camera. You can't seem them when...

Go to a Walmart and use a Kodak Picture Kiosk to print out some pics that had the yellow banding and see if the prints have it. If not, then your printer is at fault.

Hi, my Epson 2100 is printing with faint lines at regular intervals right across the page. I've done various alignment tests and cleaning tests but can't seem to clear the lines. Any advice much...

Are your alignment tests show good results? If they are, try head cleaning 3 consecutive times without printing nozzle checks. After 3 head cleanings do the nozzle check. If problem persists try printing at BEST PHOTO or whatever is the slowest print setting for your printer. Good luck!

A faint line shows up down the middle of the page, when printing a photo

from cnet review of the product

  • Unfortunately, as with the Z1420, fast print speeds come at the cost of print quality with the Z1300. Black text prints, though nicely dark, were beset by obvious jaggedness. The color graphics print had a slightly faded look to it and color blocks showed graininess and faint horizontal striations. Barcode-style patterns were muddled, too. For our tests, we printed color 4x6 photos with the standard black and tricolor cartridges, as Lexmark did not include photo ink tanks with the test unit. The colors were dull, details were hazy, and again, the entire print was marred by graininess and faint horizontal lines. That said, nobody buys a $25 printer to print photos for framing or to create displays for a classroom science project. A $25 printer is a convenience item for occasional reference prints, and as such, the Z1300 does its job.

My photo prints have lines across them?!

the glossy paper you are using (hp) is smearing the ink... there is now ink on the feed rollers and you need to get in there and clean it all up with alcohol...also run epson matt paper for a few prints to get the color to lay down ..good luck

I had this trouble, went through cleaning & realignment, then various print options. What i found was that dark colours had faint dark horizontal lines 5mm apart when printing on Photo in the epson driver. Changing it to Best Photo solved it.

Black lines on photo

Are the lines always in the same places? If they are, then I would try using different photo paper. Humidity plays a big factor when printing with any kind of paper and buying new paper would be a good start. Make sure that the paper is made for your printer specifically. You might also try printing on plain paper to see if you get the same results.
