I use my printer mainly to print usps shipping labels.. I guess by not using it to print pictures I have caused it to clog up the magenta, yellow and cyan,, I would like to print color pictures but since I have only been using black the other colors are clogged .. I have ran the self cleaning many many times and to no avail .. I still only get a very very light to non existant print of any color other than black..

Re: Brother 5440 won't print in color..
The ink is dry and you will need to take the cartridge off and clean it (maybe you will need to poke it with a needle to open it) and also you will need to open the nozzles of the printer by doing the same thing.

Sounds like a problem with the printer. The software that came with the printer should have some tools that might help you, My old Epson printer came with a set of tools, one in particular tool (which may help you) was head aligment. This use to fix the issue of non straight lines being printed. Head cleaner was another tool i would use to have thin consistent lines printed. Check your printer install cd and add the extra software if all you have installed is the basic driver.
Are you sure that the page size is wrong, or are you just guessing because of the way that the label is printing? I would uninstall the driver - delete the printer from printers and faxes and remove the driver from Server Properties (in the file drop down in Printers and Faxes). Go to ups.zebra.com/ctp and get the latest driver - you have to have the UPS version of the driver in order to support pass-through printing. Go into your UPS Ship Asst application and make sure that the generic thermal is not checked.
Welcome to the club. Been fighting this for almost a year. There is now a driver for vista available from Zebra to fix. I can now print 1 label from quick books. to print a second i have to restart computer and quick books. still searching for the answer.
it depends what program you have but you can either copy the label and make it bigger by zooming out or just by going into programmes available and see if there are different sizes available
go to tools as this may you let do all this
I can't tell you exactly what this issue is, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that it isn't your printer. More likely, it's the way in which these files are watermarked or else a setting in the viewing application your printing from, say PDF.
But I can make some very good guesses and to some things which would cause this error...
You are running some sort of trial viewer that has expired and now watermarks as "sample" anything you print. Picture viewers, some commercial document viewers, and some web browser plugins can do this.
You are printing from a webpage and do not have java or scripting enabled. Many browsers require scripting to validate that you are supposed to be printing what your printing and watermark what you print if it can not.
The issue is UPS, not paypal; but paypal uses UPS to do shipping...in this case you will see the error either way baacause your still using UPS but Paypal may have been aware that UPS had an issue and was addressing it with them.
If your using Office products they do have an options setting to watermark print jobs. "SAMPLE" is the default watermark. But this would only effect printing from Word, Publisher, Excel, etc.
brother mfc-5440 ~ same exact issue on not printing the black AFTER purchase new cartridge (again!) ~ i should have checked here first.... NO MORE BROTHER printers in our future & will tell all our friends, too....
