Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

Panasonic Model DMR-EZ48VK COMBO VCR/DVD RECORDER When I put any disk in, it has started making a 'grating' sound for a few seconds after the door shuts. Now it has begun to occasionally misread partially recorded discs, saying there is no blank space left when I know there is! It seems to be getting more frequent.

This is not a computer dvd. I'm recording programs off TV and have been doing so since I bought the thing. I know when I have blank space on a disk.

  • Pynblackcat Aug 20, 2008

No error codes. If it misreads the blank or partial blank disc as full, I open drawer, then close it again. Most times it corrects on 2nd try, sometimes takes 3. Could the problem be the laser dirty? It has no trouble recording.

  • Pynblackcat Aug 20, 2008

Bought machine brand new in December 2007 or January 2008.

  • Pynblackcat Aug 20, 2008

If the laser has gotten dirty, what's best & safest cleaning solution?

  • Pynblackcat Aug 20, 2008

Clean laser with what? Cloth? Solution?

  • Pynblackcat Aug 21, 2008

No other disc stuck in it. After I blew into it, it doesn't do like it was. I think laser 'eye'? was dirty. What's best way to clean? Compressed air? Dvd cleaner disk?

  • Pynblackcat Aug 21, 2008

Yes, it appears lens was dirty and couldn't always read discs correctly. It also stopped making that 'grinding' noise, which must have been it trying several times to read

This can be a dirty lens of your player, try running a CD cleaner to clean the lens, then try it again hopefully that will fix the problem..

Hope that helps..........

In regard to the grating noise: I have a Toshiba DVD/VCR player. A DVD was once put into the loading tray, and got stuck in the player. Is it possible that the DVD is rubbing against another disk that is jammed inside the player?

Another possibility is that the spindle that supports the disk is lopsided or bent in some way that doesn't allow it to be read.

As poormanjoe83 said, you need (regardles of +/-) RW disks to "re-write" or add data to a disk.

You have to open the dvd player.and just clean the lens of it.and tighten the screw of the tiny motor inside.the sound is because of loose motor screw.and the lens are not clean so its partiall reading and giving incorrect messages on the screen that there is no space in your cd.the unit is perfectly alright and it will definately work.just do it.

How long have you owned the machine and how much have you recorded on it. These machines do wear out. you have the options of getting it serviced or replacing it.
if you need any further assistance please let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

If you want to attempt to clean the lens you would buy a dvd/cd lens cleaning kit which can be picked up at any electronics outlet and also wal marts. If you need any further assistance let me know. If you found this helpful I would greatly appreciate if you could accept and rate the solution accordingly.
    Thanks,
    Lee

If you hear grating sounds that means that there is something misaligned on the DVR. Normally with panasonic you should also get an error code on the screen does one come up?

Its doubtful that it is the lens since you hear a grating sound most often it has to do with the gears. I would suggest you take it to a repair center. Although another option is to open the DVR then try to play or run it and listen where the grating sound comes from

You cannot add extra data to a DVD-R. Are you using DVD-R's to record?

How to fix code F60 problem?

Defect of Digital P.C.B. processing board and needs to be replaced. F60 is a result of a low or missing voltage on the digital board. Often the culprit would be capacitors that have leaked.

But first try a "cold boot". Unplug the device, wait 2 minutes, then plug it back in. When the 00000 display starts, hold down the POWER button for at least 10 seconds which puts the device into "standby mode". Wait another 10 seconds then press the POWER button.

Manual for my ram dvd player dmr-ez48v

Panasonic has the owner's manual for the DMR-EZ48V on their product support page. Go to http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/DMR-EZ48VK and click on the Owner's Manual tab (second from the left). The direct link to the manual is http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMREZ48V-MUL.PDF . (Note: this is the US version of the DMR-EZ48V.)

I hope this helps.

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Try resetting the unit. Push and hold the on/off button for 10+ seconds. --or-- Look for a reset button behind the drop down door, and gently depress it with a pen point for a couple of seconds. If this does not work, try calling Panasonic.
